Default 2 step bird punch

Anyone having trouble with their SU 2 step bird punch? Mine is sitting stuck closed and it is unlocked. No amount of jiggling can get it open.

Thanks
Rebecca

Mine works fine. I've heard that you can try punching through aluminum foil and that will help a sticky punch but I have never tried this.

When my EK Success punches have done this (they make the SU ones), I've hit them on the table and that usually knocks it free. However, you really should call your demo and ask her to return it. SU will likely send you one first and then you send your defective punch back. They do have a 90 day return policy, but sometimes they make exceptions.

I totally agree with KikiKaren. Call your demo. Sometimes punches are defective and don't line up or work quite right. It might get better with time, but why take a chance?

SU is fabulous when it comes to quality issues with their products. I just received a Fancy Flower punch that would stick shut when I used it. I could get it open if I knocked it on the table or pushed it from the inside, but I called on it to see what SU would do. They told me to just toss it, use it as a big paperweight, whatever. They sent me out a new one super fast at no charge and no hassle to me. Sometimes they do have you return the defective merchandise, it depends, but a lot of times they won't.

Sometimes little bits of paper can get stuck in the punch. I have noticed this happening to me in two situations:
* I was punching out thinner paper, and it was being pushed into the punch.
* I was punching too close to the edge of the cardstock, and cardstock was being bent into the punch.
I've been able to use my bone folder or scissors to push the inside of the punch out of the outside. Then I pull out the paper or shake the punch to release it.

I have had to hit it on the table. I suggest wax paper and or alumiinum foil

I haven't had this happen with any of my SU punches, but have with others. I placed them in the freezer for a short time and when I took them out, they popped right back.

Almost all punches are made out of a soft metal called "pot metal". Sometimes, because this metal is soft, it gets burrs on it. My husband has taken several of my older punches apart and we have filed off burrs on the metal with just a regular nail file. The punches now are harder to get into, and you might not be able to take then apart. As a SU demo, I would gladly return the punch to SU for one of my customers. It is too much hassle and expense for my customers to have to "put up" with a bad punch!

I am getting together SU orser during sellabration. I love punches! I wanted this one. But I would love to see cards made with it before I order it. Can anybody show me their cards made with this punch? Thanks

Go under gallery and type in Bird Punch. That will bring up lots of cards using this punch.

I went to the gallery and saw what and how people were using the punch and then added my own touches and changed colors etc. and viola I was in business. I do not get too excited about too many things but I LOVE this punch!

Thanks for the help too. I got an email today and they are sending me a new punch! Woohooo for SU!

If you look on the left-hand side of your screen there is a list of options one of which is the Search option. Click on this and a box comes up that you can type your keywords into. In the meantime this link might help get you started.

I'm having the same problem with my bird punch. It gets stuck closed. Just emailed my demo about the problem. Love the punch, hope I can get a replacemnet. I don't want to fight with it everytime I use it.
