Your top 3 embossing folders
There's so many choices and I haven't even gotten to the dies which are covered in these 2 threads:
What Are Your Favorite Dies? by sc magnolia at Splitcoaststampers
Please help me narrow down my choices. I don't want to buy things and not use that. That'd be a waste of money and space even with 40-50% off coupons.
I like the idea of swiss dot and the stripes by SU on plain colored paper but I also like the idea of the wall paper fancy textured ones that you can also use on designer paper - got that idea from Stampin' in the Rain, browsing their store. Too bad they don't have samples of it online or in a gallery somewhere.
I only have one of the thank you scripts because that's what I make the most. I hand emboss everything else because I have tons of brass stencils from Lasting Impressions.
So my question is which are the top 3 you reach for when making cards.
Please advise.

I have lots of Cuttlebug folders, but really only use a few on a regular basis.
My favorites are Swiss Dots, D'Vine Swirls, and Birds and Swirls.
Occasionally, I use the Thank You and Birthday folders, too.

Swiss Dots, D'Vine Swirls and the Square Lattice one from SU!
D'Vine Swirls was one that I didn't expect to use much, but it was on sale at Michael's and I had just gotten my Big Shot and wanted a folder to use in it - but it's a really good, versatile pattern.
In general, I'm much more likely to use any of them that create a background pattern as opposed to the ones that emboss a scene or single picture.

I have only one embossing folder. It is a Cuttlebug 5"x7" folder called Polka Dots. I got it at Michael's with a coupon. I love so many of the other designs out there, including a few from Stampin Up, but I made a pact with myself not to buy any embossing folder that is smaller than 5"x7"--no matter how pretty.
I think I'll be on the watch for Spellbinders M-Bossabilities: Spellbinders M-Bossabilities Folders
They are 5"x7", include 2 designs on a folder and are priced just right at less than $10 MSRP. However,I'll let everyone else run out and buy them first while I sit back and see if there are any problems with the two-in-one design.
BTW, don't do like I almost did and confuse M-Bossabilities with Impressabilities. They aren't the same. I hear the Impressabilities do not leave much of an impression (literally).

I would even narrow it down to 2......D'Vine Swirls & Swiss Dots...seems like these are the two that I always go back to over and over again. I also have a flower one by Darice that use quite a bit but if your trying to count the pennies - the 2 must haves are D'Vine Swirls and Swiss Dots.

I love the Square Lattice for the inlaid embossing technique (you glue punched or cut images to a base then use the square lattice ef to emboss and it ends up looking as if the punched pieces are inlaid into the base) Here's an example Love Always I also use my Vintage Wallpaper and Perfect Polka Dots quite a bit.

Luckily I'm more limited by what the local stores, AcMoore and Michael's and JoAnn's if I'm willing to travel, carry in-stock than by price tags since they seem to always be on sale; even better we have discontinued racks so that's where I could potentially pick up ef like one of you mentioned. It's nice to have access to boutique stores like Impress and Amuse but I figure to ask first than be a squirrel. Most things I see, I like but have no idea what to do with. I'm still more a dreamer, designer phase so that's why I still only have a thank you embossing folder. That I know and have ideas for.
Thanks for everyone's feed back!!!
Feel free to add more but sounds like any of the dots by sizzix or stampin' up is a must have. I like seeing spots but it's certainly is different. I also like these: Sizzix Textured Impressions Embossing Folders 2PK - Circles & Dots Set | Sizzix.com
Guess I'm going shopping wohoo! What a treat after a few year's of buying freeze.

Great question! I'm always reaching for my CB Swiss dots and CB Swirls. Just bought the Sizzix Dot Matrix and Gridlock (which I expect will get used a lot) and I have the Sizzix Woodgrain and Brick on my list next.
cheers,
Julie

How could I possibly choose? I have over 30 embossing folders...I might be slightly addicted to them.
CB Grace's Frame
CB Swiss Dots
CB Winter Wonderland (it's a set of 6 folders, but my favorite is the one with snowflakes)
I also really like the SU Elegant Lines folder...
