Default I don't Know What To Use

I am new here and I hope this is the right place. I have seen such beautiful cards here at SCS and my question is what is everyone using to color in their stamps? They all look like they have been painted. I have markers from CTMH and colored pencils but nothing I use looks like what everyone else is using. I want so bad to have my cards looks as beautiful. Can anyone help me please??

There are lots of options for coloring, water color pencils, prismacolor pencils, markers, etc. I use watercolor pencils with a blender pen a lot!

a lot of people are using Copic markers, ink from the lids of inkpads with a paint brush or prismas and gamsol. we would need to know which cards to help more. If you can't post a link because you are new, at least give us the artist. HTH

For example the cards that 1artist4highhopes has done. I think hers are beautiful. I have water color pencils but mine has never came out looking like the beautiful cards I've seen here. I have no idea what gamsol is or how to use it. I apologize but I'm a beginner at stamping.

Thank you all in advance for your help.

It says in her description that she used copics and prismacolor pencils with gamsol. Copics are a pricey Alcohol Ink pen, that blends seamlessly and gamsol is a brand name for odorless mineral spirits which use paper blending stumps to get the even shading of the pencils. Here's a tutorial.

Since some of the gals are using rather expensive coloring products -- Copcs or Prismacolors -- you may want to take a look at this blog tutorial by Julie Buhler
No Copics? No Problem!

I was just going to suggest Julie Buhler's tutorial as well.

1artist4highhopes is an artist for High Hopes Rubber Stamps, and there is a Tombow pens tutorial on their website... they're dual tip pens like Stampin Up and Marvy.

http://www.highhopesstamps.com/tutorials.htm

Personally, I'd hold off on buying the expensive Copics until you have mastered coloring in general... practice, practice, practice! Allow yourself time to see how well you can color, what mediums you like best, how much you enjoy the hobby, and how much time you will devote to it before spending a lot of money on expensive supplies, such as Copics.

Another thing to remember when coloring, is that not all paper/cardstock is the same, some work better for blending/watercoloring techniques than others. A good quality watercolor paper that isn't too bumpy, such as Stampin Up's watercolor paper, would be good to start off with. It's a bit pricey, the sheets are small and you don't get many of them, but for someone who's just starting to learn to color, a small amount of good quality watercolor paper might be your best best, in my opinion.

I believe this blog has more than one tutorial on different coloring techniques in the form of a video you can watch. You would have to search through the podcasts and techniques categories...

http://scraptime.ca/blogpage/

With the help of online tutorials and some practice, you'll see an improvement in no time! ;)

Hope this helps!
