Default Color woes: SU Rose Red?

I've lately begun branching out of the Bold Brights SU colors into the Rich Regals, and I'm having issues with the Rose Red color. My paper and marker are one color, a nice rich nearly burgundy. My stampin' spot and reinker are a decidedly different color, very, very close to Real Red. Is this normal?

There are often differences between the colors of the same name in the different forms -- ink, marker and paper. The main reason is that these are all made by different manufacturers. SU's official word on this is that they are supposed to *coordinate*, rather than match. That said, my Rose Red Spot's color is definitely darker and more intense than the marker, which is in turn darker and more intense than the cardstock. They are very much in the same 'pinkness' range, though. My Real Reds are all less rosy-pink than the Rose corresponding Rose items. My Real Red marker is definitely pinker than the ink and stock (which are a pretty good match, IMHO) -- so I usually use my Ruby Red marker when I want a closer match to the Real. You just have to play around a little and see what looks best to you. HTH!

Happy trails....

Sue

Thanks, Sue. I was a annoyed last night when I stamped in Rose Red, mounted on Rose Red, colored with the markers in Rose Red and realized the colors didn't match. I guess I need to lighten up, LOL.

Oh, keep playing with your rose red! It's a great color and coordinates with so many others. I love it with celery, apricot, brocade blue....definitely one of my faves! In answer to you original question, I've noticed differences when I've bought a new pack of cardstock. Often it's not exactly the same as pieces from a different pack. Different die lots, I guess. I've found this to be true for many colors.
