Who knew SU inks could be used for this !!

Or the second title could be .....
"still crazy after all these years" . . . are you singing with me ???

OK ....

I'm a 50 cent piece .... on one side is the Mom, grandma, Registered Nurse, caretaker to an elderly parent . . . and on the other side is the lady who loves her tatoos, rides a Harley, LOVES to dance, and still thinks the 60's were THE era to grow up in . .

You need to know I'm "older" and have let my hair color grow out and discovered there's LOT f silver in the front.... this afternoon I'm in my craft room stamping like a maniac,,, have SU Positively Pink all over my hands. and I'm thinkin'''' wonder what this pink would look like on that silver hair . . .

Well, off to the bathroom I went with my SU ink pad and now I have some tiny pink hair pieces in the front ! I was at the Olive Garden tonight with friends and the waitress ( who had a hair color I can NOT describe. . .) said "WOW - cool hair".... so .... who knew SU inks could be hair color ! I'm sitting here thinking of the color of all my scrubs and I do believe I have an SU ink to match each one !! My patients are in for a shock.... that is unless my son has his "crazy 'ole Mom" locked up . LOL

So . . . end of story and happy stampin' and hair coloring to you all !!!

Hugs from Virginia

Terry
"I stamp - I smile"

andn then take my stampin' pad to the bathroom and do my hair !!

Penascodragonfly 04-10-2007 06:17 PM

Get this, my youngest dd's nick name is "Janis". When she was almost 3 she was fitted for her first set of glasses. They were round, yes John Lennon round and they turned black in the sunlight. She had long stringy hair and we all said, "Hey Janis" Well the nickname stuck....Oh my, does that date me or what?
LOL:D

Targiebird 04-10-2007 06:27 PM

what a fun string this could be -- all us 'ole broads hangin' out and sharin' some "secrets"... COOL !!!

StampingV 04-10-2007 06:28 PM

YAY!! Glad to know I'm not the only 50cent piece here. I'm the single mom/grad student/compliance manager on one side and the tattooed/alternative/romance writer/mad stamper on the other.

Makes for an interesting party when all my friends show up! ;)

Topaz_n29 04-10-2007 07:18 PM

I did something similar to that in school. I had the ink in the bottle that you use with the calligraphy pens... Mom and Dad about died when they saw purple! But, it's still my favorite color...

I was born in the late 60's, does that count? I ride when I can and I listen to the "oldies" when I stamp. The other day my DD came in the room and said "what's that your listening to?" Duh, music dear child!

judysew 04-11-2007 05:40 AM

Nice to know I am not the only "oldie but goodie" stampin' on here. I had very, very light blonde hair when I was in high school in the sixties (natural, by the way) Well, had to try the platinum look.....(remember the little capsules to highlight your hair) turned my hair purple......bright purple. Long before the bright hair color was popular. My mom threatened to kill me...

Topaz_n29 04-11-2007 06:06 AM

those were the days! 3 pks. of smokes for a buck!

i actually stopped smoking 9 yrs ago- but i could pick it up tomorrow... SIGH.

Johanna7 04-11-2007 11:19 AM

Other uses too

I had a paint spot (white) on my favorite and expensive navy pants. It would not come out. I used the Craft Almost Navy ink pad and dipped in a Qtip and went to work on the stain. Covered it nicely. I was so pleased.

The other day I got out white shoes and could not get them clean. I used my Craft Winter White and they look like new again.

I will stick to clothing and shoes though and forget about doing it to my hair.

bluesh4rk 04-11-2007 11:22 AM

So does the ink wash out right away or does it have lasting power? Maybe you need to get a reinker and get your hands dirty! :D How cool! I want to see a pic.

I'm only 31 (born in '75) but I love all sorts of music including stuff from the 50's & 60's for sure! :D

markie's mom 04-11-2007 12:23 PM

The hair is an excellent idea! I'm going to try this for my next Cub Scout camping trip! DH laughs at me since my first husband was older than my folks! His favorite radio station was oldies, and I really loved it. However, being from "Jacksonville" Skynard is the way to go in the Stamp Room!

prairie mom 04-11-2007 01:38 PM

LOL! Thanks for sharing...that is too cool!

Targiebird 04-12-2007 04:03 AM

Hey there,
Have to let you know the pink color washed right out !! And guess what ? Yesterday's scrubs were purple, and you won't believe how great SU Lovely Lilac looked with them !! LOL Just a few little streaks right in the front where the hair is a really light silver.... Was standing at a patients bedside helping a doc with a procedure - he looks over at me, never misses a beat, and quietly says, "cool hair".... funny..... he was young to be my son ! Who says being old can't also be fun !!

Stampin' hugs from Virginia,

Terry

I was born in '55, and I didn't start riding a Harley until two years ago (my DH has ALWAYS ridden one, but I didn't get HIM until two years ago either!!!!lol), I can't figure out what I want for a tat, but would love to have one and my hair has been goin' gray since I was 19!! I am the right hand to a busy orthopaedic hand surgeon and also a caretaker of my 80 year old dad, am almost 52 but still ride speed competitions on my horse and chase cattle on the weekends!! (UH, with the horse, of course!) All of the younger girls at work think I am a little home body who sits and stamps ( I do!!) but there is always the other side (????does this mean we have multiple personalities???) to me and I think a whooooole lot of other people! Now I just gotta try the hair thing.....wanna watch the youngsters laugh their you know whats off!!!!!
TFS!!!

beadfreak22 04-12-2007 04:34 PM

Cindy Arnold 04-13-2007 07:25 PM

Hair Color

I'm having a SU Open House tomorrow and I can't wait to tell this story. And when my gray comes in I'mm off to the bathroom too!!!!

Emily Ann 04-13-2007 08:04 PM

Highlights!

I was born in the sixties and remember telling my Mom I couldn't wait to grow up (meaning being a teenager) and say "Groovy Man, Far-Out!" All the while holding up the peace sign and wearing my little round sunglasses and my vest with the fringe. Of course when I was "grown-up" it was the 70's and Disco was all the rage!

Still, playing with your stamps and figuring out that you can color your hair is very cool.

So to you I say,
Groovy Man! Far Out!!

barbiejo 04-14-2007 04:02 PM

Ok,born in the early 60's love big band,50's,60's,70's,80's select 90's,have become attached to a piece or two of classical and find some conservative talk entertaining listening or background noise to stamp by.
As far as stamp pads,my schnauzer had an accident as a puppy and had worms at the time, the vet said to bleach the area,my carpet did not take it well, going grey and basic black cover well untill I can recarpet, not high on my priority list,do you know how many stamps I have bought with pending carpet money? carpet is so spendy.
