Default What do I use?

Hi!
I'm making some last minute gifts. My sister gave me some tiles, which when stamped may make cute coasters. I've stamped my images using Stazon and colored them in with permanent markers. Yet, I'm not sure what product to use over the image to seal it.

I have one partial bottle of Crystal Effects, if this would work. Yet, if I decide to make very many, this won't be enough, I think. Any chance that a Wal-Mart might have something that would work? I live pretty far from any decent craft stores and won't be able to get to them before Christmas anyway.

Thanks for any assistance,
Bonnie

You've used permanent, solvent-based inks, so there's no need for a sealer coat of any type -- I'm assuming these are unglazed tiles? If you add any sort of sealer, the tiles will really be useless as coasters because they won't be able to absorb moisture.

yes, thanks! I watched Gina K.'s tutorial on this, and that's what she said too. My concern is that I made a Christmas one where I put on some stickles for a pretty glimmer, but I should have used something more permanent, but I had no idea what. Also, I do not know if the tiles are unglazed. My sis never said and just gave me 10. How could I tell this?

I guess I could also make them into pretty wall hangings, if I knew what to use so they could be displayed; I will say, they are looking cute! I was pleasantly surprised!

Thanks!
Bonnie

Thank you for adding the comment on sealing - I see so many tutorials that have crafters sealing their coasters. I rec'd a beautiful set from a friend that I never use because they are sealed.

I sealed mine and I use mine as coasters all the time with no issues.
Mainly for my coffee but I sue them for glasses of pop also.

What product did you use to seal them and where did you get it? I think I need something over the top of my glittery areas that I used stickles / shimerz bling on.

Thanks!

If they're slick to the touch or at all shiny, then they're glazed.

Thanks for the info! Yes, my tiles (from your description) do have some sort of original sealer on top them..so, now what? Am I still able to use them? I have already stamped on them. It wasn't the easiest, as the stamp had the tendency to slide around, if I wasn't careful.

I did consider trying to sand them before I stamped them. Should I try this with the rest of them?
