Default What can I use in place of Word Window punch?

Hi everyone,
I've been spending loads of time in the gallery (way too much time but there is so many fascinating cards made by some very talented people!) and I noticed there are alot of cards that use the Word Window punch to make a kind of buckle or tag of sorts, usually with a small brad attached. I love that look but don't have the Word Window punch and the budget just won't allow me to get it any time soon.

I was just wondering if anyone knows how I might use something else to get that same look instead? I suppose I could just draw a template and cut it out, but I love how uniform the Word Window punch makes it.

Thanks,
Christine

if you have the 1/2 inch circle you can use it to trim a 1/2 inch strip as long as you need it to be.

hold the punch upside-down
just stick the strip into the circle hole (in the bottom of the punch)
and slide it out the slot (where you normally put it in)

cut

repeat the other end

now you will have the long uniformly cut oval shape that you want!

use the punch to make a window too,
just use a craft knife to "join up" the two circles you punch in a layer.

"o==o"

like that!

I had thought of doing it Char's way, but I went ahead and ordered the word punch anyway. If you'd like Christine, I'd be willing to punch you however many of the little tags you'd like. Just PM me and I'll fill an envelope for you as soon as I get my punch.

Thank you thank you thank you!!!

I've been lusting after the word window punch for some time now but keep putting it off to spend money on stamps and paper and ink and markers and..........

Bought the circle punch when I got the little pieces set! Yeehaw! I love things that have more than one use!

And now I finally understand how to use my tag punch to make longer tags. I just didn't get it a couple months ago when it was being explained over and over again:rolleyes:

And one last time....
Thank you
Roxanne

Thank you, Char.

That was a very good explanation. It sounds like I really need to get on the bandwagon with these punches because I don't have that circle punch either. But now I know and I might be able to use a circle template or coluzzle.

Thanks,
Christine

OK Roxanne,

I'm the dense one here now! Explain the longer tag punch, I missed that one somewhere?

Hi Karen,

I think what Roxanne was referring to was this thread:
Forums at Splitcoaststampers

Many people (myself included) just couldn't get it, but if you go to that thread and scroll down to post #12, Lisa M has a post with pics that totally explains how to do it. I know many people were enlighted after that post! Thanks, Lisa!!!!!

HTH,
Christine

OK! It took a few minutes for this to sink in! As you get old, it gets harder to figure these things out! LOL

Thanks for your help!

Karen (old and dense!)
