Okay, so i picked up a pack of inkjet transparency sheets at walmart ( the only ones i could find locally) and they really are NOT GOOD for card bases, they are not clear... ( and they kinda stand flimsy too)
so what is a GOOD kind and where can i find it online?
Well, hopefully you can return the Walmart ones. Just tell them the quality was unacceptable. I use what's called clear coverstock. It is a much heavier weight and works for all clear card designs...window cards, shaker cards, card bases, whatever. Check with office supply stores.

Quick question, Betsy! Have you ever tried to thermal emboss on clear cover stock and if so, how does it hold up to the heat?

You can emboss on it, you just have to do it very carefully. Hold the gun far away and keep it on the move constantly, be patient and you'll get good results.
I just read on anther thread that Office Depot brand"write on transparencies" were the best bet. Problem is I don't have a store in 100 miles of me. I am going to order online. They were $15.99 for 100.
oooh they just opened an office depot here, but i didnt see that on the shelf either... so i will try them online, cant find clear cover sheet as a search either. shows me all the cover stock in the site.

Sorry, just saw this. I do emboss on it, carefully. Mine is thick enough that it doesn't warp. As to where to get it, I got mine at Paper Plus, paper seller in Spokane. It's like Paper Zone, places like that, where there are just warehouse shelves full of paper, envelopes and printing supplies.
I would have thought places like Office Depot, Staples, any office supply store that also had printing, would have this? If it's not on the shelves in the main store, check in the printing department, maybe...ask someone behind the counter.

Thanks, Betsy. When I lived on Colfax, I think I made a trip or two to Paper Plus . . . I would get positively giddy just pulling into the parking lot! LOL!

If these are the report covers, they have a few different designs in 'clear' and also a non-design black. I vaguely remember a 'clear' diamond pattern at either Staples or Office Max. I don't think I'd use a punch through these, but a crop-a-dile would be okay.
Now the real question ...... Where??? Where? Where did you find it?? 04671.gif
Acetate hates me. I cant get it to fold right and always crinkle it which makes those awful white lines. And if not that, then I inevitably scratch it. :(
I would love to try frosted ...maybe I could get better results! hyperlz6.gif

You might ask them to send you one sample sheet. The description uses both vinyl and acetate. I thought that vinyl was the soft squishy stuff and acetate was the stiff stuff. Not sure if it could be both.
Added: I made a phone call to the Skyline place. The lady there said that she didn't think the clear report covers would keep a fold. It's too stiff. But she is going to send me one sample sheet from a broken case.
