Default Fiskars portable rotary trimmer question?

I just purchased the portable rotary fiscars trimmer http://www.fiskarscrafts.com/tools/s_rotary.aspx?p=3 but haven't opened it yet. I have the 12" Ultimate Craft Rotary Paper Trimmer, but cannot find replacement cutting bars that the blade goes into. When the 50% coupon came out, I thought I'd be better off getting a new trimmer.

Anyway, now to my question. Does it have an arm that swings out for 12 x 12 paper? Does it have both like in my ultimate trimmer? I've attached a picture of the ultimate trimmer I have.

when you say you can't purchase the cutting bar... is that the black strip that sits underneath the blade when you cut?

If that's the piece that you need to replace.... I have had the same issue, but emailed Fiskars and they have, each time, sent me a replacement from their warehouse.

Yes it is the black strip underneath. I emailed them also, and they sent me the link of the replacement from them. But it ends up being $20 by the time you pay s/h & tax. Did they send your for no charge?? Lucky you if they did because I'm pretty happy with the cutter.

Anyway, so that's why I was going to change to a new trimmer, but want to make sure this one mentioned meets my needs.

My trimmer is a number of years old and the black strip that I need is only about 1/4" wide... it's not available in any retail stores any longer so they did send it for free.

$20 is way too much... No wonder you're thinking of changing to a new trimmer... I'd do the same thing!

Hi there, I own and really like the Fiskars Portable Rotary Trimmer, but it only has one arm that swings out to the left (with a 12" ruler top). There is not an arm that swings out to the right.

I also like with this trimmer that you can use the cutting strip 4 times before you have to replace it with a new one, since the blade cuts off center to the strip.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for letting me know. I was able to use my other cutting strip 8 times as it cut off center as well - I'm hoping the metal strip will last longer (as it advertises). I'm going to go ahead and buy a replacement in case my store stops selling them.

Thanks again for letting me know. It does help.
