What's a good label-maker?
O.k. now, I have a question for all of you organized people out there:D .
One of my goals in 2009 is to label all of my crafting supply boxes and stuff, so it is easier for me to find them and I won't have to spend 30 minutes alone to find what I am looking for:rolleyes: . Originally I thought I had it together, but my stash is growing almost daily and I need some help. I have most of my things in decorative boxes and clear lid boxes, but any time I need something in particular I can't find it:confused: . So, by the time I've looked through all of my boxes I have lost my desire to create. I've seen some of you use a label-makers to mark things and I am curious to find out which label-maker is a good one and uses label refills that are easy to find. Can anyone out there give me some good advise? Thanks so much, Sabrina |
My first good label maker was the Brother Home and Hobby III with the M tape refills, but after awhile I could never find the refills at stores I went to, and when I was lucky enough to find them someplace else, the cost was insane. I still have it, hoping to find cheap refills again (it's, um, that inability to throw anything away! LOL)
Now I have the Dymo LetraTag and I love it! I can get the refills easily at Wal-Mart or Target, you can get colored tape or clear tape or white paper or white plastic - lots of options. It's a reasonable price, and the refills are a reasonable price. I really love my label maker. It makes life so much easier! Except....now I want one of those new ones with the bigger keyboard. *sigh* , it's like Nestabilities, I just can't ever have enough label-makers. LOL Good Luck :) |
We have one of the letra-tags from Wal-mart found in the office supply section. I like it it works out for what we use it for. Plus I know I can always run to wal-mart and get a refill if I need it (I live an hour away from the closest office supply store and don't always want to pay $7 in shipping for a $5 item). HTH

Thanks, I was just thinking about a label maker. I think a trip to Walmart is in order.
|
Thanks ladies!!!!
I have a WalMart about 35 min. away and a Target like 25 min. away so it would not be that bad. I just would hate to buy one and not be able to find the refills;) . I guess I have to plan a trip to the store tomorrow:rolleyes: . Hugs, Sabrina |
I've never owned a label maker, but I recently saw this one on a blog and thought it looked interesting enough that I bookmarked it. I think I particularly liked the idea of the different fonts. At some point when I get more organized I think I'd like to make use of some kind of label maker -- good luck with your decision!

Ok I know you are looking for a label maker...so this is off...but...
I make labels on my computer with CLEAR Waterslide Vinyl Inkjet Sticker Paper. I can choose any font or color and the stuff never wears off. Plus you have all the equipment except the paper already. I love the clear, it looks so nice on my embellishment boxes, and storage drawers...etc. I know there are lots of reasons to go with the label maker...just thought I would share my solution in case it would work for you. :) |
How do you use the waterslide labels? Couldn't find them on Avery website.

You can search Ebay for *Clear Waterslide Decal Inkjet* and a few should come up. I can't get my copy thing to work to post a link...time to reboot. :( |

I have and use a P-touch label maker. Love it! It's old but works great. I buy cartridges for it at Office Max or Office Depot.
|
Why couldn't you just use clear address labels? Never tried it. Just wondering.
|
Another P-Touch owner here... love mine!
|
We had to replace our label maker after my daughter took ours - but what we did was look at the refills to find some that are reasonably priced then decided on the label maker. There were big price differences. We get refills at Office Depot or Staples.

LOVE LOVE my dymo letra tag!

I had the original P-touch from when they first came out. I liked it very much. It finally gave up on me recently, and I got a replacement which is even better, more sizes, and fonts. I got it at Staples, and they have the refills. You can also get the refills online. It's a good thing to have. The new one takes TZ tapes. Good luck with whichever you choose. Eileen

Thank you all ladies!!!!
I am going to check out WalMart, Office Depot and Stap;es today to compare prices. I knew I could count on you awesome ladies here on SCS:D :D |
I have 2 of the Dymo Letra Tag labelers...Love them. Easy and inexpensive to use.
Blessings. |
You all inspired me so much that when dh suggested a Walmart run, I jumped at the chance. I now have a Dymo Letra too. Can't wait to play. I am going to be soooo organized. Also bought a new day planner. Something has to work. I have too many projects ahead of me to stay in perpetual chaos.
|
I just use that handheld DYMO. It is usually on a good sale in the fall due to the start of school. I use it A LOT.
|
I went to WalMart today with the intend to look for the DYMO LetraTag but I got totally sidetracked (you know I had to take my 2 kiddos:rolleyes: ) so by the time I was on my way back home I told my oldest (she is 7) I think I forgot something when it hit me like a ton of bricks that I forgot to check out the label maker, DUH!!!!! So, to make a long story short, since Target is right there on my way home I told the kids one more stop and we are on our way home, and take a guess what was on SALE for only $ 14.99 instead of $ 19.99? Yep, the DYMO LetraTag and all of the refills were on sale as well $ 5.97 instead of $ 6.97. I had to buy it since I can't pass a good sale;)
Thanks again to all of you that replied to this thread, you for sure made it easy for me. Now comes the hard part though, I have to get all of my stuff out and label it:rolleyes: Hugs, Sabrina |
