What kind of adhesive should I use?
I was wondering what the best adhesive is to adhere cardstock to chipboard coasters? I also want to cover some wooden boxes with cardstock or dp. What would work best for that? I have an ATG but I'm not sure if the tape is strong enough. Thanks!

I use my ATG on everything! Just make sure it is not the GOLD type. The GOLD is the acid free for scrapbooking and in my opinion just does not hold as well. If I want something to be somewhat water proof I use Modge Podge. With MP you need to allow the first layer(paper to item) to dry before coating the front. Also do not panic if you get bubbles 9 times out of 10 they will vanish once dry. Happy Stamping!

Glue sticks work great for paper application to chipboard coasters, but your ATG will definitely work well, too.

How much wear and tear is it going to get? If it needs to be sturdy consider the modge podge, it will give a pretty shiny surface too.

I usually use the Tombow mono-multi glue in the white tube. It dries really quick and adheres well.

Thanks for all of your help ladies!

I use my SU glue sticks exclusively for adhereing card stock to chipbaord. I've been using this since SU first introduced their chipboard items and have not had any problems. The glue sticks are quick and easy to use; very economical; and give you a slight bit of time to slide the card stock around if you don't quite put it onto the chipboard correctly.
BTW, at $3.95 for 2 glue sticks I would image it's much less expensive to use than your ATG gun, but since I don't have one of these I have no idea how costly their adhesive actually is. |
As far as cost the ATG 1/4" adhesive I use is $2.40 per 36 YARD roll. It is the most economical adhesive I have ever found and nothing will fall apart after it sits a while like Tombo Snail adhesive.
With such a low cost on adhesive the gun pays for it self pretty quick. I have the red 714 version, it holds only 1/4" adhesive. I am serious considering purchaseing the Yellow 700 version. This way I can use other sizes for example the 1/2" 60 YARD roll is only $5.42. At first I figured I would just double up on my 1/4" if I wanted a wider adhesive area. But after doing the math, well actually my 13 year old did the math, the per yard price for the 1/2" is $.09 per YARD and the 1/4" is $.13 per YARD! Hope this Helps, Happy Stamping! |
I only use Tombow Mono Multi glue for attaching cs to chipboard. Only thing is once it sticks you cant try to take it off or move it, it's stuck there forever.

I love YES glue. I use it on all of my bookbinding projects bc it is thick, apply it with a scraper and it dries slow so if you don't get suff lined up right you can reposition it and it never wrinkles. It says it will glue metal too but I havent tried that. I somes in a big jar that will last you for years too!

What is ATG?
I used the glue spray the other day when recovering spiral notebooks, it seemed to work pretty well. I sprayed the notebook cover and then put the paper on. Just be careful to line it up the first time since it does not come off. |

Wanted to let you know that I have the yellow 700 version but bought an adapter for it for the 1/4 in tape. Saved me the cost of another gun. Now it seems like all I use is the 1/4 inch. Cherie |

I use spray adhesive, smells bad but works like a charm! ;)

I use Yes glue, too, but if it will be suject to wear and tear, ModgePodge is a must.
