Default Cardstock Weight for cards

Wanting to add to my stash - what paper weight is good for making cards?

I am not a stamper, so any requirements for that is not needed. That being said, I do use some spray inks, but I tend to do that on a separate piece of paper and adhere it to the card front.

I want to make sure whatever I use, will actually stand up when folded. Nothing like putting time and creative effort into a card and it won't stand up when you are done because the cardstock was not heavy enough.

Thank you.

Locally (as in Hawaii), I just purchased a package of 100# Cover of the brand Pop*Tone, 25 sheets of 8-1/2 x 11, and it was $12 which I thought was kind of expensive, but maybe it isn't?

I think 100# will do for most of your needs. I don't know what a Hawaiian mark-up does to the price of paper but Pop-Tone is wonderful brand in my experience. I love just about anything from the French Paper co.

I use a cardstock that is 110 lb weight that I get from Sams Club. I like it very much and use it for all my stamping and cardmaking. I make card bases from it, and I also use it for my stamped images. It is very inexpensive but quite nice. You get 250 sheets for only $8.96!

I checked, and there is a Sams Club in Honolulu. Also, they ship it for free. Here is a link:

GP - Image Plus, Card Stock Paper, 110 lb., 8-1/2? x 11?, 1 Pack - 250 Sheets - Sam's Club

You should be fine with anything 80# or higher, up to around 100#, for the base. Anything too much heavier and you might run in to post office concerns with it not being flexible enough to go around the PO sorting drums. If you use a heavy base, try not to have all the other layers be too heavy -- for similar post office concerns and you end up with a very stiff card.
