What do you think of the Martha Stewart stuff?

What do you think of the Martha Stewart stuff? If anyone has it what is the quality like. I have mostly SU stuff, so comparing maybe a little unfair.

Martha Stuff

I was not overly thrilled with the Martha Collection. Her line looks nice, but I don't want to pay full price for it and since you can't use coupons, why bother??? The cute bottles of glitter caught my eye, but other than that - I want to spend my $$$ on SU!

lisalisella 06-15-2007 01:39 PM

I have 2 of the ribbon boxes from MS, and one of the paper boxes (fits 12x12). They are both great, but were pricey. The ribbon boxes cost $16 each and the storage box I can't remember but it wasn't cheap.

The ribbon tape is pretty neat, as are the stickers--they are STICK-Y. Oh and I bought the dimensionals recently, the thicker ones since I only had the thin SU ones...They are SUPER thick and sturdy, maybe a little too sturdy in my opinion.

She has a lot of great stuff, and when my daughter turns 1 in August I'm definitely going to look at her stuff for decorations or favors. I've been eyeing the favor boxes/bags for cookies and candies.

Everytime I go to Michael's I look at her stuff, but nothing I HAVE to have right now. Maybe it's the price that talks me out of it. I'm not a huge fan of her color scheme for inks and markers, it's a little blah for me. And the acrylic stamps she has don't interest me b/c they're only letters or scary birds!

If anyone has her papers, are they high quality? I can't stomach spending $10 on 12 sheets so I don't have any yet.

The Gardener 06-15-2007 01:46 PM

I like her punches because they are so easy to use and the ribbon is nice too. Since I usually buy supplies with coupons, I probably won't get any of her more expensive items.

LoriBerry 06-15-2007 01:51 PM

I have one of her punches. It punches a line or border of small circles. Very easy to punch, like the SU punches.

and I got some of her flowers. DOn't know what i'm going to do with them yet, but i love gerbera daisies!

jwjazz 06-15-2007 01:55 PM

Not my cup of tea. Her colors are too muted for me and the prices are too high. I admit that I have glanced at a couple of things, but have not considered buying them. I don't think that I would even at 40% off.

cuccicoo1002 06-15-2007 01:58 PM

I'm starting to collect the glitter. I love it. Yes, you can't use coupons, but the value is GREAT! There is a LOT of glitter in those jars, so for $5, it's really not that bad...pretty much what you pay for SU glitter (depending on your tax rate) and such pretty colors too!

I want to get the flower border punch, but my stor hasn't had it since the first week (I could KICK myself for not getting it)

I want to try the double sided stickers that you can use with the glitter (probably even microbeads)

I've heard the CS is great, though I've not actually checked it out yet...

nancystamps 06-15-2007 02:12 PM

Boycotting. If I can't use the store coupon, I'm not paying her prices, even if someone is wearing white gloves to put it on the shelves! And I like Martha, but c'mon!

BasketOHearts 06-15-2007 02:19 PM

Martha's prices are nuts. With 2 exceptions: Glitter, which is very nice, comes in a wonderful glass jar with a pour/shaker lid and in TONS of colors. The punches are reasonable, too. I think the glitter is $4.99 and the punches are $9.99.

EK Success makes her line. . .honestly, I was shocked - there was a set of 8 Martha invitations (for you to stamp on and craft with) and it was $12. Good grief. Not to mention her $80 album. What the hey.

Caution on her stamps, I understand they are vinyl and not photopolymer. Vinyl is just not even close to as nice as photopolymer for stamps.

stampkinz 06-15-2007 02:34 PM

I was disappointed in the overall selection, considering that Michaels revamped the whole stamping/scrapbook section to accommodate the M.S. merchandise. And no coupon? Uh uh. Nothing I can't live without.

JulieHRR 06-15-2007 03:52 PM

I personally LOVE it!

robynstamps 06-15-2007 04:17 PM

I think it's pretty but none of it is calling out "buy me". :)

amesbabe 06-15-2007 04:28 PM

I agree the glitter is a good value. I looked at her cardstock packs today...$9.99 for 24 sheets...that's almost double SU's current price!

So, overall, not impressed and I'm a coupon girl...so no buying it for me!

Cathy H 06-15-2007 04:45 PM

Hey, all you guys out there who think it's too expensive ---- I got the punch and I used a coupon !!!! You can't use a Michaels coupon but you can (at my store, anyway) use a competitors coupon!!!! Try it !!!!

1stclassnana 06-15-2007 05:25 PM

I really looked forward to seeing this line prior to it being introduced, and while it is displayed beautifully, I was disappointed otherwise. There is absolutely nothing calling my name.

myralm 06-15-2007 05:39 PM

I was not impressed either. I haven't bought anything since nothing was a "must have."

amazingrace119 06-15-2007 06:28 PM

I bought her sterling silver pigment ink pad for a batch of party invitations. Love it!! I believe it was 5.99, cheaper than Brilliance and the quality is wonderful. I better add on light cardstock. It smudged a bit on black. Other than that, nothing looked that great to me. Maybe the punches though....(crap).

Tokane4 06-15-2007 06:55 PM

I only have a couple of punches and the twill ribbon. The twill ribbon is a really good buy (I cannot remember the exact price), but I thought her other ribbons were a bit pricey. A lot of her things are really cute (like the party deco items and craft kits for kids things), but I think they are also a little too pricey. If I had money to throw away, I would buy a lot of her things because I do like the style of her decorating and party items, and her kid themed crafts.

I keep scanning the aisle, but nothing's really jumped out at me yet, although hearing all these comments about the glitter, I might check that out next time. ;)

mungojerry 06-15-2007 07:09 PM

I think it's great. I'm probably not going to buy a giant scrapbook or giant paper but I have gotten a couple of punches. Love them.:)

amber27 06-15-2007 07:17 PM

I love the glitter and I have had good success with her clear glue that I use for collage work (similiar to mod podge)

*Alice* 06-15-2007 07:19 PM

I don't like her stuff in general, as it is not my style. However, I have purchased her cornflower and 2 snowflake punches. I use flowers on so many cards and snowflakes for everything Christmas/Winter.

parknslide 06-15-2007 07:24 PM

Doesn't she have enough money??? Don't understand why her stuff can't go on sale or why you can't use a coupon. Hope Michael's rethinks this. But as others have said---nothing really calls my name.

chrisations.ink 06-15-2007 09:14 PM

Bought some twill and will go take another look at the glitter after reading some of the comments. But her colors are too muted for my taste. I'm waiting for the SU catties to come out before I purchase any more punches. IMO Martha sure does know how to market herself!

Ditto.

janejetson 06-16-2007 03:03 AM

I bought a lot of her new line. The quality is outstanding and I'm really happy with my purchases. To me, the products were easily worth full price, and I'm looking forward to the release of new items.

same here!!

carla36301 06-16-2007 04:02 AM

Well, I was TRYING to boycott her because of the whole "no coupon" thing, but then I need to make 25 birthday invitations that said "BARN PARTY." I bought one her clear alphabet stamp sets so I could put the whole saying on one acrylic block and not have to stamp each letter individually. They worked fine. I bought one of the smaller sets that had multiples of the letters, so this worked fine. I was pleased with the results! I think the set was maybe $12.00, and I thought that was a good price!

JanTInk 06-16-2007 04:39 AM

I like some of the punches, the glitter and some of the ribbon but the rest leaves me pretty cold.

I bought two jars of glitter and a roll of ribbon so far. I've been eying the cornflower and cosmos punches, but I'm waiting to see what SU! has in the new catalog before I buy them. I have some of her older punches with the button on the top that she had on her website years ago and they are good punches.

Lynn in St. Louis 06-16-2007 04:41 AM

The clerk at Michael's had to usher me from the store after I was laughing so loudly and rolling on the floor after seeing those GINORMOUS scrapbooks. I can't imagine who would want those monstrosities! JMHO. I know they use them in Europe, but I don't live in Europe..lol

ddgr2331 06-16-2007 06:39 AM

I've bought punches, most of the ribbon, an alpha stamp set, all the double sided tape stuff and recieved the marker set for mother's day with a gift card to purchase more! I really enjoy having a new line to buy from and Martha's goodies really ARE a good thing!

I don't understand the whole "I won't buy without a coupon" attitude, as non-consultants, we pay full price plus close to 18% (s/h & tax) for SU/CTMH product here in CA, and those of us that purchased the beloved scalloped punches through the various vendors seen here on SCS, also paid full price. I look at coupons as a special treat, grateful, but not expected : )

Susan

ps. I don't scrapbook, but you can be sure Martha's biggest scrapbook will be on my birthday or christmas wish list, now I won't have to clip a newspaper page apart, I can keep the whole page intact. Yes, my Anaheim Ducks deserve Martha's best!

msbmom2 06-16-2007 07:05 AM

I think her things are beautiful but have only bought one spool of ribbon in a color that I really needed for a Mother's Day gift. I think I wouldn't specifically search out her things, but if she has something I need, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it...

junebugstamper 06-17-2007 06:47 PM

I bought my first MS item the other day. I needed something to use with my 6x6 square envelope template. Voila! Her large cs is perfect. I got two envelopes from one sheet and enough left over to trim a card or two. All for $1.99.

I found her stuff nice but overpriced. That scrapbook is huge!!!! After you buy the scrapbook and protectors and some paper you cant afford anything else. sometimes i have a hard enough time filling a 12x12 page how could i ever fill a big one like that. The only thing i bought was the clear liquid glue. i havent even tried it yet. no time!!! i like the favor boxes and stuff but still a little expensive. i didnt look at too much other stuff because i walked through the aisle kind of quickly. next time i'll have to check out the glitter.

K. Benko 06-17-2007 09:07 PM

The thing that struck me was the ribbon 3 yards for over $8.00 OMG. That's just insane and I didn't like any of it. Thank goodness. You can buy a lot of ribbon for $8.00.
I did like the 8x11 album with the 11" horizontial, very nice but expensive. With all the wrapping on it - I can't tell if you can expand it. I haven't seen any extra posts.
I have bought the punches and they are very good quality.
On a whole I'm not impressed. You can do better Martha....

Judyw 06-17-2007 09:21 PM

I like Martha's little paper bag puppets for pre school crafts. So, I kept the flyer that advertised them, bought green paper bags at Michaels (16 for $2.99 before coupon) and cut the parts out of leftover scrapbook/card paper for the kids to use. We made adorable frog hand puppets at a mere fraction of the cost to buy her stuff.

I won't buy her items since I can't use a coupona nd they won't go on sale either.

shirolives 06-18-2007 02:17 AM

I love the Martha section.

Bought some alpha letters and butcher's twine and a punch so far. Great quality. OK price.

My next purchase will be the satin photo corners. MMMmmmmmm.

Leticia 06-18-2007 04:17 AM

I bought a package of her 8 cards with lined envelopes to make a sample shower invite for my niece's bridal shower (came in a pretty "cinderella blue")

But........... when I added a couple embellishments:
scalloped circle, stamped in bloom dress cut out and attached
gossamer (sp?) ribbon
small square with "you're invited" stamped
It was over 1 ounce so it would have been an additional $0.17 to mail.

I guess my point is that the color and quality of the cards are wonderful but be cautioned that if you embellish it you'll have to pay extra postage.
