What can I use the Xyron X for?
Need ideas ladies - I am a dork and bought this thinking I could laminate bookmarks but it is only for adhesive???
Ugh - what do you use it for? |
I use to adhere small letters, etc on cards and scrapbook pages.
|
I use it a lot to adhere ribbon
|
Oh, I adore my X!! Use it on small die cuts and punch-outs, ribbon, anything you want to stick and can fit in the machine!! :D
|
I bought this about 6 months ago & still haven't even taken it out of its cute little package!! **sigh**

In addition to using it to apply adhesive to diecuts and punchies, you can also use the permanent refill to adhere glitter, PearlEx, microbeads, and embossing powder etc. to those diecuts. This works especially well with diecuts/punchies that were cut from transparencies.

I absolutely love my X for adhering ribbon! That's pretty much all I use it for, I'll be interested in seeing what others use it for!
|
Mine never gets put away! Ribbon, strips of cardstock, chipboard, buttons, diecuts.....
When I send one thin thing through, such as a ribbon or strip of paper, I send two or three more pieces through with it, and just stash them for use another time. Don't like to waste the adhesive, lol! I love all of my xyrons...9", 5.5", 2.5" and 1" (the X)!! I use all of the all the time. |
I often pull mine out when adhering ribbon, or little pieces like alphas or scraps in making 3x3 mini cards.
|
my quickutz dies, letters, glitter, ribbon, anything little LOVE LOVE LOVE it!
|
I run 1" strips of paper through the X it to make it adhesive THEN do my punching or diecutting (steel dies only). That way there is no extra adhesive around the edges like when you just run an already punched out piece through. Plus there is less waste because you can punch more pieces out of the strip. I have a tiny little 3 drawer storage unit that I keep the leftover adhesive paper in, sorted by color family, so next time I want to punch, its handy.

Love it for adhering those little odd shapes that you cut out from small stamped images, or for ribbon or flat trims. You can also add glitter to a small punch-out that's gone through the Xyron.
|
My 5 year old grandson used it to make LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of stickers while he was here visiting this summer :)
I find that it leaves too much 'goo' around it to use so I never use it. Is there something I'm not doing right?? |
Wow thanks so much ladies. If I run ribbon through it, do I have to cut around the shape of the ribbon on the adhesive after?
|
I like mine for those small pieces too.
I run my fingernail around the piece before I take off the top sheet. I think it helps with the extra adhesive. |

Here's a wild use for the Xyron X:
http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...0&ppuser=26620 I cut a 1 1/2" strip from a sheet of grid paper. Ran the strip through the Xyron, then adhered six 1/4" wide strips of patterned paper side by side on the sticky side of the paper. Then I stuck the square in the center of a square piece (about 3 1/2") of grid paper. Cut the strip of patterned paper into four pieces, then stuck each of them on one side of the square. Trimmed the whole thing down to 3" square. This process turned a fairly complicated card to make into a pretty simple one. I made 50 of them! Never would have made that many if I hadn't figured out a way to make it easier. |
Looking back at that card, the finished patterned piece had to be larger than 3" - probably 3 1/2".

I have the 510 which can laminate and make magnets and can fit diecuts up to 5 or 5.5 inches. I also have the 250 (I use it the most) and the X and adore them all.
They recalled some of the adhesive a few months ago and were awesome about sending out replacement, the customer service from Xyron is great!:-D |

By the way...for those having trouble with extra goo...be sure to rub the item with the cover on it before you peel the cover off. Also, the goo comes off the edges really easily if you rub your finger on it...and it doesn't stick to you!
