Default Question about Ranger White Embossing Powder

Hello everyone!

I am very, very new to heat embossing, and I am having an issue with the Ranger White powder that I bought.

I have clear, black, and a couple glittery ones in other brands, and in each of those the embossing powder is tiny grains of embossing powder, but the Ranger White is just DUST.

As in, open when my ceiling fan is on and you can see a white dust cloud go everywhere. This is NOT the super fine detail one, just plain old Ranger White Embossing powder.

Here is a photo of the jar after I poured it into another container. You can see how the dust just coats the jar.

It's very hard to work with so I'm curious, did I get a bad batch? Is all Ranger powder like this? Is all white from any brand like this? Is this normal?

I will add that it DOES work. As in, it does emboss and melt, fairly nicely also. It's just really hard to work with compared to the other powders I have.

I'd suggest contacting Rangers customer services. They are very good at providing any help needed. I have a few white EP's, but not Ranger, but I can say none of them are that fine, not even the Ultra fine detail ones.

I have about a half dozen Ranger powders including fine detail and none coat the inside of the container like that. I agreee with Shaz.

I agree with contacting Ranger, you can do that here: Contact Ranger | Ranger Ink and Innovative Craft Products

Your container looks like Perfect Pearls instead of EP.

Thanks guys! I'm so glad it's just this jar and not what I should expect in the future, because it certainly is a pain to use like this

I have a jar of Hero Arts white on the way to try out, but I'll certainly give the Ranger another shot since I've heard a lot of good stuff about it.

Wow, talk about dust city. Wonder if it's the very end of a batch during manufacturing. I use Ranger a bunch - have never seen this. Maybe it's a collector's item, albeit an annoying one.

Well...I contacted Ranger.

They emailed me back requesting more photos, so I sent what they asked for, and they said that it looks exactly like it should. They said it looks just like what their art department is currently using.

Their suggestion was this: "The use of a Ranger Anti-Static Pouch improves performance of all embossing powders, and we would suggest its use (or the use of another anti-static tool) in this instance, if not already doing so."

I have already gotten a Hero Arts jar of white that I haven't tried yet, and I'll compare it to this. I will say the Hero Arts look a lot finer than my clear or black powders in other brands, also, so maybe the white is just finer across the board. That jar of ranger though...it's so fine that some of it actually went through the coffee filter I used to pour it into.

Hmm. Sure looks funny to me. None of my Ranger EB's are powdery like that and they sure won't go through a coffee filter. Cheesecloth maybe. I use coffee filters to catch excess and put it back in the jar.

Yes, Ranger gave me the same kind of story when I emailed them about their Enamel Accents fading in the bottles that I have. They had me take all kinds of photos, including the tiny numbers on the bottom of the bottles, and then sent me replacements that had the same problem. They told me this was "normal." Personally, I find their customer service slipping.

My Rangers white embossing powder certainly hasnt and doesnt go through coffee filters. Maybe email them a link to this thread.

I wonder if your email wasnt read carefully; copy and paste response.

Sounds like they may want to address customer service philosophy/training. Their products are too good to not provide equally good customer service.
