unmounting SU stamps

Hi, just wanted to see if anyone else is trying this! My wood SU! stamps are taking up too much room and I'm going to unmount them. I did this to one set so far, it was a new set so it wasn't too bad. I just placed the see-thru image sticker on the back of the rubber stamp (the sticky foam area). But that is not enough to get the stamp to attach to the acrylic blocks... so I brushed on some repositionable adhesive to the image sticker. Then you have to wait at least 20 minutes before using it, when the repositionable adhesive becomes "dry" or tacky. Then you can attach your rubber/foam stamp to the acrylic block. It works GREAT!!! I am so excited! However, with the older sets, it's gonna be a BEAR to get the see-thru image stickers off of the wood blocks, and then the rubber off the wood. I've heard you can microwave the blocks (with stamp attached) for 10 seconds and it may help to loosen the glue.
Well anyway the set that I unmounted had really small words, and I am soo happy with the results, because now I can make sure my little words are perfectly straight on my cards!

Yes, it is a big topic around here. If you do a search on "unmounting," you'd probably see tons of info on the subject. Personally I've not yet done it and only recently bought my first set of unmounted stamps. I have so many sets of wood-mounted stamps, it would be a HUGE project.

I'm in the same boat. And there are TONS of threads on unmounting, just like she said, so do a search as you'll come up with hours worth of reading and opinions!
