Default SU! metallic eyelets

Several of my girlfriends and I are finding it IMPOSSIBLE to close the metallic eyelets, both with the handheld punches and the setter/hammer. Is anyone else having this trouble? Any suggestions on how to close them?

I emailed demo support, and they just apologized and suggested that I ask other demos for suggestions. I was pretty disappointed with the response. I feel like we've all wasted our money on these eyelets.

Thank you!

to set my eyelets, I use the setter and hammer. I usually hit it 3 times with the setter and then hit it flush with just the hammer. It has worker well for me. I haven't tried a handheld setter, sorry I'm no help there!

I've used both the hammer/setter and the ProvoCraft setter with the SU eyelets with no problems. The JoAnns brand and Making Memories brand were a different story. I could not get either of those to work with the PC setter, and the JoAnn were always crooked and oval with the hammer.

Shauna,

That's unfortunate. I have not had any problems with SU! eyelets. Matter of fact, they are my favorite because they seem to be softer than most and I don't have to beat them into submission like some of the other brands out there. I wonder if you got a bad batch?

I have a tutorial at my blog regarding metallic eyelets and using Stampin' Ups! tools to close them. The trick is not to over hammer using the eyelet setting tool... check out the tutorial:

Also keep in mind that each vendor's eyelets metal varies... some are harder and some are softer...
