Question How compatible are SCAL and Cricut DS?

I have a question that I would love some help with! I have a Cricut Expression machine and the Design Studio (DS) software. I am looking into purchasing the Sure Cuts a Lot (SCAL) software also. I had heard rumor that when you download the updates for DS periodically, that it can mess up the SCAL sofware and make that unusable. (Am I making any sense?) Has anyone out there tried both together? Have you had any problems with their compatibility? (I do understand that they are used completely seperately from one another.) Any help would be much appreciated!!

There are many that use both. Yes. When PC updates the DS, they often make us update the firmware for the bugs. When they do that, they will often make it where the SCAL program can no longer run. Basically, you just keep the bug at an older firmware update and stick with that until SCAL gets updated with a way around the DS block. Does that make sense??

I'm hoping for SCAL, too, but not thinking it's going to happen. I may have to buy it for myself.

I love SCAL!!! I have been using it since I discovered it in July. I just updated with the DEC 8 version of DS and the new version of scal and they run like a dream! The last time (August 0 that Cricut upaded they changed their firmware so SCAL wouldn,t work if you updated but that is fixed now. In that case if you wanted the new ds and to use scal you had to keep 2 versions of DS on your computer so you could update your firmware each time you switched..what a drag..I didn't bother updating untill it was all fixed. I have lots of freebies (SVG flies) for scal users on my blog and many other share too and with a free program called inksacpe you can make your own designs or convert jpg and other files so you can cut it with the cricut! I hate to use my cricut without it!
