I am thinking about ordering a set of the WW crayons. I have a lot of the soft subtles papers, but I am worried that the crayons of this color family will be too soft and that maybe I should go for a more-vivid set. Does anyone have an opinion on the most-versatile set to start with? Thanks!
The crayons are used with water so they definitely have a diluted look. Personally, I'd go with either Bold Brights or Regal at first. The nice thing about watercoloring is that you will get a paler shade at first and can always build it up and can blend colors.

I just got a set. And I chose Bold Brights because it has the nicest selecton of colors Red, Green, Yellow, Blue, Pink, & Purple.. I just used them for the first time and I LOVE how soft they feel and looks so delicate..
Good Luck and Enjoy them!
Sue
I have them all but the set I get the most use out of is the Rich Regals.... I don't know what I would have done if I had never got them. Before I had the pencils and they are just too limiting compared to the crayons.
I agree with Gina -- you can't go wrong with any of them. One of the best things about WWC is that they do match the cardstock colors exactly, so if you tend to use a lot of soft subtles, you really might want to reconsider buying those. The intensity of the colors really varies with how much water you use. Also, if you have a lot of the stamps with people (like Living Large or Bellas whatever) you'll definitely want skin tone colors. I'm really fair, so I tend to use blush blossom a lot.
I have the EE and SS WWC and love them both - like TruCarMa said blush blossom is really helpful for skin tones. I also love using the browns in the EE sets for hair& skin tones.
I think you have to look at what type of stamps you'll be using them with. If you are looking to do more stamping with WWC as the main ink then I'd choose a bolder set keeping in mind the style you're going for. If you want to do more true "watercoloring" of the images then the SS would be fine. Of the 2 I have I started with the SS and did find them a bit pale for using all techniques so I'd recommend the EE to start with.
