My SU gal said the Texturz plate would work in the Cuttlebug. I just got it out & tried the A plate with Texturz plate sandwiched between 2 B plates and it's too thick. I'm wondering if I need 1 "B" plate and shim the difference in card stock. Anyone know? I'm anxious to play with my new toys and my SU demo is out of town this weekend.
I got a couple of these this month. I found that sandwhich too fat, too. I believe I used a couple of pieces of cardstock or I used a layer of plumber's gasket. I use the plumber's gasket instead of the tan embossing mat. You can try that, too. Good luck.
I use the texture plates in my cuttlebug all the time. Here's the sandwich I use: A plate, texture plate, cardstock to be embossed, silicone mat, B plate, card stock shim(s). It will depend on how tight your rollers are on your machine whether you will need to use shims or not. I would try without, and add one at a time until it works for you. I used a silicone cookie sheet cut up (about $5) to make my mats for embossing, but if you don't have the embossing mats already you could also use fun foam. I also spritz my paper with water before running it through the cuttlebug when using texture plates since the designs aren't very deep on the plates. Here's an example of how deep my impressions come out with this method. The key is spritzing with water.
I use mine in Cuttlebug all the time, but I bought the Sizzix pad and plate designed to go with them. It is a black pad that is like an embossing mat but different thickness, and a rigid black plate that I think looks a little thinner than a B plate.
I purchased them through Stampin' Up! when I got my texture plates, but I have seen a set of plates at Michaels that was a starter kit, so it came with three double-sided texture plates plus the two black items (plate and pad). You can also order them separately from places that sell a lot of Sizzix stuff.
I think the sandwich is A plate - B plate - Texture plate - Cardstock - black pad - black plate.
I have also found spritzing the paper with rubbing alcohol in a mister bottle will allow the paper to take a very deep, crisp impression. I tried water, but it altered the finish on some of my card stock, and the alcohol works better with less and dries immediately!
Lynne, thanks for that alcohol tip. I used water and was not pleased with my results. Caused my card stock to curl (maybe I was too heavy handed?), but since alcohol dries so fast, I'll try that with the project I'm doing.
THanks for all the helpful info regarding sandwich and misting! I recently got some texture plates and have not played with them yet due to intimidation...but now I think I will give it a try!
