Question SU! Retiring colors?

I'm going to finally take the plunge and sign up to be a demo. Hobby for now to support my addiction..er...I mean hobby but eventually I'd like to hold workshops and stuff...anyway....

I'm just curious about how often they retire the colors. I know the in colors retire every year (so sad about that this year!) and I know it was like 05 or so when they retired a bunch of the regular colors. I'm still working on getting everything like stamp pads and markers and I would hate to spend a bunch on stuff only to have colors retire soon and then I couldn't demo it! So I just wanted to see what you all thought about how often they switch out the colors. I'd be sad to see any of them (well almost anyway...yoyo yellow can go ANYTIME!) go!

What do you think???

As far as anyone knows, it's just the In Colors that retire. As for other colors, it's any one's guess.

Retiring colors from the main 48 has happened only twice in 20 years, with the first happening sometime prior to 2001 (when I was invited to my first workshop), and the second in 2005 when they seriously retooled the Rich Regals and discontinued a handful from the Subtles and Brights.

I know there has been a survey on colors sent to a selection of demos, but I don't see the main ones changing anytime soon. I say go ahead and sign up. There's no penalty for dropping later if you find that being a demo just isn't for you.

i was thinking that that is why they introduced the 'in color' thing.

this way they could bring in new/current colors without retiring from the color families.

i think you will be OK to get the basics!

good luck in your new endeavor!

Yeah I didn't know how many times it had happened previously. I just thought it would be neat to get some insight on the subject! Thanks for your thoughts! And *sigh* how I am going to miss the in colors this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Better use my discount to stock up!!!!

I would try to stick to the more popular colors. I wouldn't neccessarily get glorious green. (I am still hoping they will replace it with wild wasabi)
About stocking up on the current in-colors, I can just tell you from experience, that once I don't see the colors so much in the catalog or here in the galleries, I don't have the urge to use them as much either. I am sure some new ones will come out that you have to have. I'd say just get as much as you think you might use before the new ones come out.

I stocked up on wild wasabi last year and still use it often. I really prefer some of this years in colors to the regular colors, like pacific point over brilliant blue so I think I'll continue to use them for a while...and I'm a I'd rather have too much than not enough kind of girl, hahaha. And for the time being I'll probably be more of a hobby demo than holding a ton of workshops (we shall see) so I can use all the retired stuff my lil heart desires And here's a vote for wild wasabi=)
