Yes, Gayla, these are alcohol markers and work exactly the same as copic. You can use them with copics or any other alcohol marker, I remember having a little issue with one brand and Touch but it might have been my old, discontinued, smelly Design2 markers.
Any copic technique will work with the Touch markers (or any other alcohol ink marker)
I'm excited for everyone that got these! They really are comparable to Copics and such a deal on the price.
I will say that the colors on the lid and in the chart are not too accurate as to what they actually look like on paper, but I think that's the case with a lot of markers.
The markers seem to color a lot darker to me than they look in the samples and on the lids, for the most part. This time I filled in with the lightest shades of colors I already had.
Woo Hoo - Have fun everybody.

I just got a few promarkers while here in AZ to give them a try. The pretty purple I got is VERY vivid, much more than I expected, so I do think it is a charcteristic of markers. I think how light of a hand you use makes a difference too. I mostly use the chisel nib than the fine nib, which might make a difference.
I always use my color charts rather than selecting the colors by the lids. I do that with my pencils too because they just look different to me. ProbAbly because the painted color on the pencils is shiny and the colors themselves are matte.
My old Design2 markers have paper labels and they have all faded so badly that the browns look pink and the putty looks green! There is no way I can go but the label colors on those anymore!
Can someone give me the color of a good red, I am looking for a cherry red and none of them look bright enough. The color code for #12 doesn't look bright but when I see a picture of the marker the cap is bright red. Does any one have red?
I have #12 and it is on the orange side of red. Out of the reds I have, and I'm not a "red" person, I think #11 Carmine is the brightest truest red, or #15 which I don't have the name written down on my color chart. #5 is cherry red but it is not as quite as bright as 11 or 15. I would say that #15 is closer to #5 but 15 is brighter than 5. Both 15 and 5 are on the pinky side of red as opposed orangey red. 11 is on the orange side, 15 is on the pinkish side. Maybe even #10 deep red would work for you.
Paper also makes a difference, my color chart is on Canson Fanboy which has a yellowish tone when held side by side with other card stocks. I mostly use smooth Bristol for all of my stamping/drawing.
Now that I am back home, I can see what I have but I need to update my chart.
Geranium (#15) is a great primary red. Vivid red (#4) is nice and bright too with a slightly blue tinge.
ETA: Here's a sample of the Geranium- don't look closely at my coloring though! I colored this really quickly and I'm not happy with it. I used Geranium and Brilliant Blue, shading with Cool Greys.
Blue tones..that's what a meant by "pinkish" I couldn't think of it this morning. Blame it on jet lag and an 85 degree temperature change (Pheonix back to Alaska)
thanks guys, I had no clue looking at the color chart that the color looked like that, #11 was on my list along with #2 and #13. I am now debating the reds I picked
thanks so much, I am getting an order of 48 (I am in Canada and large quantities are more economical). I would love to get an idea of your favorites etc.
OK, here is my chart "so far"... hehehe.... the little checks are my order from Blick (and I had a coupon, so I filled in a few missing colors from ASW). At least it will give a better idea of the colors than the color samples online, in general.
Thoughts as far as colors...not a huge difference between Spring Dim Green and Green Bice to me. Same with Cream and Buttercup Yellow. Pastel Green is not green, Purple Grey is not greyish, and Pastel Yellow is not pastel!!
I had a buttercup yellow that was incorrectly labeled, it said buttercup but the color was more of cream or pale cream. I got another one and it had the correct buttercup color. I got this marker from Jerrys artarama. I've had trouble with this marker from them. The first was dry but I was able to scratch out some of the color on my chart, they Took a long time to get a replacement sent and now this incorrectly labeled one, but I don't think I can blame Jerry's for that.
I don't get the pastel green name either, but then the color names of all brands of my markers seem to be pretty creative to me, like a copic I have called cobalt green. I would think this should be a blue-green based on the name but it is a yellow green. Go figure.
I think the "pale" colors are more what I would consider to in the pastel range.
To me, Green Bice and Anise are really close, with green bice being a tad lighter.
There it looks more like the Old Red. Oh well... I ordered the Wine Red this last time, so hopefully it's different! If not, I'll have another duplicate to trade or sell.
Here is a scan of my color chart. I just can't seem to get all the colors to scan correctly. Light pink is brighter, the pink and orange flourescents are nothing like in the scan but the green is fairly close. Some of the lighter colors are a bit brighter than the scan shows
Most are Touch markers but the grays which are scratched out and DB written in are Bick Blick.
The colors at the top of the page with DB are Dick Blick markers and the ones which say PM are ProMarkers.
The colors at the bottom of the page are all Copics.
I didn't put any of my Design2 markers on here because they are my last resort markers - too smelly and have that awful speckling/mottling in every color.
They have been on clearance for awhile, I am guessing this model will stay on clearance even when the new refillable ones become available - again that is a guess. I know they used to have more colors available and more sets available which have since sold out. I'm guessing these specific ones will stay on clearance until they are gone.
I think you're right - this the close-out price on this line. Thanks so much for sharing your chart! Mine will look more like that when I get my order...
Ok I just placed an order for 85...used the 10% discount code so they were 1.70 each. How much do you have to spend for free shipping anyway?
blessings.
I just got 2 sets of gray's from jerrysartarama.com. 1 set of 12 warm and 1 set of cool, both of which include 2 blacks - so now I have 4 black markers! Anyway, the set of 12 were $19.99 each and come in the clear plastic box. I think they also had a multicolored set for $19.99.
However, I prefer Dick Blick for individual markers because Jerry's has sent me the older style markers from their open stock. The older ones have a color band around the body, not on the top of the caps. The sets jerry's sells are the current marker.
