SU! Color Caddy!
 

I am thinking about getting the SU! Color Caddy since my collection of inkpads is growing bigger. First I started with the Stampin' Spots!
In addition of being a Demo now I am sure there will be more ink pads for me in the future!!! ;)

My question: Do you own the Color Caddy?
Can you recommend it? I know it costs a lot of money, so let's keep this part out of your appreciated helpful tips! ;)

I own two - one for my classic pads and one for my craft pads. I also got the extender kit for one of them so I'd have room for my In Color pads and other misc pads. I'm very happy with them.

I own 2! I love them, I have all my SU! Pads, Stazon Pads, and of course my refills on top. Love them!

I have been considering purchasing the Color Caddy for quite a while now, and I keep hearing different opinions. I didn't want to make that investment if I was unsure... I think though, I have finally been swayed to buy one.

I was turned off to it when I read multiple people say it spun with difficulty. They said SU made it this way on purpose so it would not spin TOO freely and have your ink pads flying out of the caddy... Others said it spins fine. But the suggestion I read which is what ultimately has influenced my decision to buy one - apparently the caddy comes with a small felt pad that attaches somewhere (at the bottom i think)... they recommended punching a hole in the middle of it to allow it to spin more freely. I haven't seen what it looks like and don't remember exactly the description, so I'm sorry if that doesn't make much sense, but I was just reading about it this morning on SCS, so i will look for the link to the thread and post it for u if i can find it. I found it quite helpful and informative..

I have 3 stampin up color caddies and I love them. I use one for my classic ink pads with my reinkers on top. I use one for my craft ink pads with my reinkers on top. And I use my third one for my retired colors classic and craft ink pads, my incolor ink pads, and any other misc. ink pads I have such as neutral colors, versamark, and stazon.

I love my color caddies and I am so glad to have them. I haven't had any problems with any of mine. They are a great storage for my ink pads!

I have 3 as well. Bold Brights and Soft Subtles craft and classic in one, Earth Elements and Rich Regals craft and classic in the second, In Colors, Neutrals, Stazon, Versamark, and a couple of misc. in the last. I LOVE them. I don't have any problems with them turning, and they are sturdy.

I would recommend them for sure.

I love mine also. I've tried other ways of storing my ink pads and for the amount of counter space/wall space it takes, it's holds the most ink pads for the space taken. I had my hubby put a shelf 8 inches above my work table so I could put my smaller things under the shelf, such as markers, little drawers of stuff, watercolor pencils, etc. I put my paper stacks and color caddys on the shelf. I have a photo in my gallery.

I also have had no difficulty spinning them. They don't turn easily, but neither is it difficult. The foam pad for the bottom comes with the center cut out and you must pull out the inside, cut out part or it will not spin easily. Ask me how I know this....

I didn't want something to take up space on my limited work surface. I bought the tape cassette holder from http://www.kingdom.com/ProductInfo.a...ductid=LW100NF. I spray-painted it white and hung it on my wall. It holds all of my classic and craft ink pads and one set of in-colors. Unfortunately, I'll need to get another if I keep buying in-colors. :)

I didn't like the way my spun, so I went to the Container Store and bought a black heavy duty turntable to put under mine. You don't even see it, and now it spins like I like it. Although I wish the SU caddy held the markers too....I still love mine. I've looked at every other storage unit on the market...and still choose to use my SU.

I own two CC with the extenders. Mine didn't turn as easily as I liked so I went to Walmart and bought 2 Rubbermaid lazy-susans. I paid about $2.68 each. They turn beautifully.
I have had my CC for a few years now and love being able to find all my pads. I don't have to search through a drawer or other container. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I have had the caddy for about three years and i also put it on a lazy susan to make it spin the way i wanted it too. My DH just made me a wall mounted inkpad holder that i wanted so i could store my reinkers and markers with my pads, but if not for that i would still be in love with my SU ink caddy! Now is the time to purchase it,as it is Sale-a-bration, and you will get a free stamp set with the purchase. I would also recommend ordering the extender at the same time, as you will fill it up and will need it at some time, if not right away, LOL:rolleyes:

I have 2 and I love them! The first one I bought on EBAY for I believe $35.00, plus shipping. It was in great condition and a great deal. The second one I bought from SU! because I didn't feel like searching ebay and waiting for auctions to end. HTH!

I made my own color caddy using a Rubbermaid turntable (like for your spices), a sanding disk with the center metal removed (from the hardware store) laid flat on top, and the boxes my SU stamp pads came in sitting on top! The stamp pad boxes sit on end, of course. I rubberbanded two boxes together with a big rubberband and viola! It works great and sits on my table in front of me!

I had to add a slight lift to the front (I used index cards cut to fit) to keep the stamp pads from falling out of the top of the boxes!

I think the whole thing cost me less than 7 bucks, plus it helped that I got a discount on the sanding disk and turntable since my husband works at the hardware store! Even without a discount it was less than $12.

I have discovered all kinds of things at the hardware store, and the "boys" love to see ME coming, looking for things for my crafting! Things like sturdy tweezers and great needlenose pliers that are a lot better quality!
