Stazon ???

There are a lot of times when using Stazon is practically a must, and it works really well for me, but it is ruining my stamps!!! I have tried just about everything I can think of to get the stains off - evenwent so far as to buy a bottle of Stazon cleaner - I don't think it is any more effective than alcohol or our stamp cleaner. Does anyone have any "tricks of the trade" to help clean Stazon (especially black) off stamps.

Also, will craft ink pads provide the same benefits as Stazon? Are they any easier to clean off your stamps??

Thanks for any and all tips, suggestions, advice you all have.

Have you tried Awesome? A friend recommended it to me, and I got a large spray bottle at the dollar store. It doesn't get every bit of the ink off, but it does a pretty good job. It's great for getting just regular ol' Basic Black off too. Smells good too!

I pour soome mineral spirits on a rough-textured cloth and "scrub" my stamp across it. Not real hard though. It's always done the job for me. You may need to get into the cracks a little with your fingernail or some small object to get all of of the ink off and if it's been a while since they were really clean, it may not entirely do the job but I've had good luck with it.

Really? The Stazon cleaner isn't working for you? I've been using it for Stazon and the black classic ink and have been happy with it. What I do is set the stamp upside down and rub the cleaner on it. I let sit for about 30 seconds, then wipe off with an old washcloth. Then I scrub with the Stampin Mist and dry in the scrubber. An extra couple of steps but my stamps have stayed quite clean.

I heard that the Joy of Stamping makes a cleaner.. it is pink and the stuff looks separated.. you have to shake it before you use it.

The only draw back is if you do not rince it off well it can leave a soapy residue.

staz-on cleaner

I've done essentially what stamper 1996 does and it seems to work. It does require the extra wash with Stampin' Mist but I'm just afraid to not try to get the cleaner off after I've used it to take the ink off. Not familiar with Awesome or the other products other posts mentioned. Good luck.:)

I like to keep an old damp wash cloth handy when using Stazon. After I have stamped the image, I put the rubber right onto the cloth until I'm ready to clean or re ink it.

For old stains, I have had luck with the Stazon cleaner and scrubbing by hand with an old wash cloth. It sometimes takes several cleanings and also, like someone else said, it can help to let the cleaner sit on the rubber for awhile. I always follow up with Stampin' Mist.

Pigment inks are different than Stazon, however, you can emboss them and then watercolor the image with good results.

I stamp onto scratch paper to get as much of the pigment ink off before trying to clean the rubber on the Stampin' Scrub with Mist. Some pigment inks, especially the metallic ones seem to need that old wash cloth to help get it all off. Hope this helps.

Old toothbrush

I have a kids battery operated toothbursh that I use with the stazon cleaner.

When usuing stazon I usually try to clean my stamps ASAP..

I use the stazon cleaner, dab it all over the stamp. rub it with the toothbursh, then spray clean water on it to clean it, drying it with a rag,,,

I don't worry about bits of stain,,, it just shows it is a well loved and used stamp,,,

I'm sorry, I am incredibly anal about my stamps and I clean any ink off immediately with alcohol free baby wipes. If I forget and I do end up with Stazon on my stamp I use Stazon cleaner and it works. If not, I have inherited someone else's stamps and the way I get stubborn stains off is to ink up the stamp with Versamark, clean that off with a baby wipe and the bulk of the stazon comes off with it and then I clean it again with stazon.
