Default Questions about certain products used in Pat Huntoons newletter.

I love Pats newsletters and look forward to them every 2 months. However Sometimes while I'm reading her newsletter and come across a technique or Techniques I want to try out. I realize there's a product listed there and I have no idea what it is.

So my question is what do most of you do when you come across this. For example in the lastest newsletter for April/May. The Glowing Oil Technique. Ask for a product called Oil Pastels. What are these. Where can you find them. Is there another name for them. How much does it cost.

I wish there was a list somewhere on her site or somewhere else that tells what products are and where you can find it.Or if there is an alternative for this product. Here's another one spray fixative, is this a matt or shiny fixative, or not.

I almost wish she could have a differant area on her site that showed the products and an alternative to use.Or a glossary of what each product does. How to use each product. so we can get a better understanding on what we might be looking for when we go to buy these in a store. Since some people who work in the stores have no clue what we're talking about. Or another word is used for the same product.

Is there anyone who knows of a place to find this information or does anyone has a spreadsheet of these terms. I think it would be so helpful to others. To know what the products are .

Is there a hardcover book that can tell us what a product is and what it is used for. I guess this is basicaly what I am asking. I know the product itself will tell you what it is and what to do with it is written on the package. But it would be nice to have a book right at hand to be able to look through. And know what it is, and if there is a possible product that can be substituded for it at times. Other names people call that same product. "For example chipboard is layers of cardboard or pieces of paper glued together".

Lisa

I'm one of the design team members for TJ. You'd probably get your questions answered better if you posted them on the TJ Yahoo Group (the yahoo group is for paid subscribers of the Technique Junkies Newsletter of www.patstamps.com )

As for the Fixative Spray - you are looking for Krylon Fixative Spray - you can find it at Michaels or your local hardward store. I prefer to use Matte.

The pastels in the Glowing Oil Pastels are these you should also be able to find these in the FINE ARTS section of Michaels
this might help http://www.dickblick.com/zz200/13/

These same 2 questions were just asked this week on the TJ yahoo group.

Feel free to PM me with any questions.
