Thanks for that Wendy, no wonder I could never find them! It seems a little odd to me though that they have the others in the petite scallop and not the rectangles! I guess the long scalloped rectangles would be OK but they wouldn't mix and match with the rectangles I already have would they? I wonder if everyone who would like petite scallop rectangles were to email and ask about them, they would maybe think about producing some?
I really badly need a set of labels too! LOL. I don't have any at all yet and when I look at them I can never decide which ones I would rather have! And then they keep coming out with more new ones! LOL.

Where do you get a blue crease pad? I searched the internet and couldn't find one. I bought a black crease pad from SU. Is it thinner and that is why you need to shim it? Where do you put the shim?

I bought mine from the Sizzix Ebay outlet. From time to time they have them. They no longer make the blue ones though so they aren't easy to find. Your local Mike's or Joann might have them.

The black crease pad will work just fine. It's a little bit thinner, thus the shims, but you'll get the same effect. I'd put the shims like this

MPP (Multi Purpose Platform) Tab 2
Shims
clear cutting plate
Nestie blade up
paper face down
Crease pad

Roll through machine.

If you were buying your first set of Neties Labels, which ones would you buy? I have never been able to decide, last night I was at a craft night where they had the S.U. "Top Note" die, and it looked very similar to "Labels 1". I rather like that, but I would rather have the whole set of labels than the one size, although I don't know exactly what the size of the biggest Nestie is.

I'm interested to hear the most used nestie shapes, now I've bought my first ones, ovals, what should I get next?
I went to Clarke Rubber for the tan mat most people use and I bought 20cm X 1.2 m wide for $4.20 lots of tans mats for that $4.20

I had never thought of Clark Rubber! I went to Bunnings and various plumbing places to try and find that "gasket" that everyone talked about (and plumbing places didn't even know what I was talking about) and ended up buying the proper tan mats! I would say buy rectangles next. I have circles, oval and rectangles, and use ovals and rectangles the most!

Kathy, I really think that you should invest in the four-packs when appropriate. I am so glad I did. You save money. Not many come that way, though. By four-pack I mean
1. scalloped shape large
2. scalloped shape small
3. shape large
4. shape small.

I find that I like to pair a large scallop with a small shape or a small scallop with the large shape that fits inside it. That gives a larger border.

The latest thing I bought was the petite oval four-pack. I find that I am reaching for it for sentiments all the time. The petite ovals are longer and skinnier than the classic ovals.

This is just my opinion. I have several of the labels also. I did see that there is a four-pack in labels that might be a good investment.

Have fun. I love them!!!

If you like the Top Note, then I'd recommend Labels 8. It's nearly identical to the Top Note shape - a few differences, but not many. The second largest is about the same size as the Top Note, then the largest is a little bigger.

I use Labels 8, Labels 4 and Labels 1 the most. I also have Labels 2, and 7. I use them, but not as much as 8, 4 and 1.

I have the Label 8 and I use it all the time. I like the choice of have multiple sizes. If you like to have more for your money, then I think that is the way to go.

How do you emboss with the tan mat? I have a cuttlebug and this is the stack I use the following stack... plate A, plate B, die, cardstock, tan mat, plate B. I have even tried a shim but it just doesn't give we the embossed edge. What am I doing wrong? Does the cutting side of the die need to be next to the tan mat or the flat side of the die next to the tan mat?

ETA: I am refering to die referrs to nesties.

I use the following
A plate
nestie with cut card still in place, ridge up
tan mat
3 pieces of paper or card for shim
2 B plates
With this I get great results. Hope it helps.

Those are the directions according to the company. I started with this but made a slight change due to another SCS.

I use A plate, B plate, Die you had cut this time flipped over, then the brown mat, a shimmy, then the C plate.

I find it works better.

Does anyone have any show and tell projects they did using the apple, pear, or bird dies? I love those shpaes, but I'm having trouble picturing them "in action" and would love to be inspired by your projects!

I have a couple of my projects featured on the blog today using the Fresh Fruit Borderabilities. Plus in the Inspiration Gallery on the Spellbinders website there are some projects, too! HTH

U Cut at Home has spellbinder alphabets on clearance. I can't find anything about them anywhere. does anyone know anything about this? I am assuming that they are not very desirable since I can't find it anywhere else.

Thanks

I was looking at those alphas that Cut at Home had too, but they are only about 1" high I think and as I already have all the Cuttlebug alphas they wouldn't be much good for me. They are so cheap though that they would be good for anyone who doesn't have any alpha sets. I really want to get an alpha die set that is bigger, like at least 2".

Question Layers question

Before ordering my first set of Nestabilities, can someone tell me how many layers of cardstock they can cut in one go? I'm using a Big Shot and LOVE that Sizzix dies will cut through a few sheets of CS at a time. Man does this save time when doing a stack of identical cards.

Also, which would you recommend for cutting multiple small circles (under 2") the smaller nesties or a handheld circle punch? I'm afraid to order more items to take up permanent residence in my basement with all the other cool tools I bought but don't use. LOL

Thanks in advance.

I have cut 2 or 3 layers at a time, depending on the thickness of the card. I haven't tried more because I haven't had the need to make multiples. I would definately get the Nesties circles rather than a punch. It wouldn't cost much more and you would have the option of all the different sized circles.

Thanks Jan! Now, if I'm using 2 or 3 layers of CS, what "sandwich" do I need to build to run through my BS? Sorry for all the questions.

Sorry, I have a Cuttlebug and don't know much about the B.S. I am sure that others here will know though. There probably is good "sandwich" ideas here on S.C.S. somewhere. I know I found one for the bug, and have it printed off to refer to whenever I have a non Bug die.

Forgive me for asking this if it's something that has already been addressed here, I need to know if Anyone knows which Nestie Die from Labels 8 is closest to SU! Top Note Die?

Opps. Sorry I just got my answer from reading Mad Swappers thread. It's the second the the largest right?

Yes, second largest. I love the largest one though for 5x7 cards. The second largest is great for A2 cards.

I use the same sandwich for 2 or 3 layers of cardstock as I do for one. It makes it a little tighter but it still works. For heavy cardstock though I'd reccomend no more than 2 layers at a time, because often once I am using heavy cardstock, like Gina K 120 lb, and with three layers, it is too thick for the die to be able to cut it.

Just do MPP Tab 2
Clear cutting plate
Nestie blade up
Cardstocks face down
Clear cutting plate

Run through Big Shot.

If you are cutting and embossing in one pass using the crease pad, don't use more than two at a time. And don't force a sandwich through if it is too tight.

Default Metallic "debris" on edges of my die cuts

Great thread! I hope this is not a repeat, but I did not see this addressed. When I use my Spellbinders/Nesties, I usually get a faint brown metallic "shadow" along the edge of the die cut. I have tried to use an eraser to rub it off, but it is a problem, especially on light colored card stock. Is there a solution to this problem?

I have had that once. What I did was took an old toothbrush and scrubbed them under running water. It worked and took care of the problem. HTH!

Have it. LOVE it!! It is one of my most-used non-Nestabilties Spellbinders die (and I have a LOT of 'em 'cause I used to be on their design team!). Here are a couple of cards I made with it ...

That is reverse stenciling. You ink the INSIDE of the die with craft/pigment ink, then place the paper over it and run it thru your Wizard (or Cuttlebug or Big Shot). The color you placed on the die then transfers to your paper. Cool, eh? I then added some sparkly embossing powder. Here is a tutorial I did waayyyy forever ago (it's a step-by-step photo thing, not a video ... didn't have a camera to do 'em at the time!). You can also do regular stenciling with them ... just sponge or color the ink over the stencil while it is laying on top of the cardstock. VERY pretty results there, too!

http://wickedlywonderfulcreations.bl...-promises.html

Here are a couple of cards I made doing regular ol' stenciling (but not with the Rose Edgabilities die):

This reverse stenciling is something I have been puzzling over for quite some time. I have not invested in craft/pigment inks. Would it work to use versa mark somehow with dye inks?

Hmmm....not exactly sure. The ink needs to be able to stay wet long enough to get it from the die to the paper. If you used Versamark then regular dye inks, the ink might pull the Versamark off, or vice versa. I suppose it coudln't hurt to give it a shot, though. If you decide to give it a try, please let us know how it turns out!

Howver, you COULD use Versamark then add some embossing powder or embossing glitter to it after you cut out the die, then heat set it. THAT would work!! (like my earlier samples with the roses ... BOTH were done with embossing glitter, which was added after the die was cut, so I am sure that it would stick to Versamark as well!)

Here are a couple of cards I made doing regular ol' stenciling (but not with the Rose Edgabilities die):

Sorry if this question has already been asked. I have a wizard, and tons of Nesties, but am wondering if the new TH dies will work in my Wizard? Thanks for any help!

Yup!! Looks to me like all his dies are made by Sizzix, so just follow the sandwiches for them and you should be just FINE!!
