Default laminating machines

I am interested in laminating foil onto cards. I don't want to spend a lot of money on a laminator, but don't want to buy one that is so cheap that it doesn't laminate the foil onto cards. Any suggestions of a type I should buy? (and avoid). I always receive wonderful suggestions to questions I've posted so thank you ahead of time for your help.

I bought the Amazon one HERE for $22.00 and free shipping since I am a Prime member. It's worked great for me. Though I usually run it through with a carrier sheet once and once without.

Hope that helps.

I'd suggest finding examples of foil laminated projects associated with the one you're looking into purchasing. I initially purchased a recommended laminator that didn't work well. There should be no black spots. If you find you can't blow up an example large enough on a site like Amazon, take a screenshot so you can make it large enough to check for complete coverage. I ended up with the Heidi Swapp, Anna Griffin has a smaller model too.

I bought my basic laminator for about £15- less than $20. Literally basic, has an on/off switch, no various heat /speed settings. Works a treat. Adds foil every time. It can help to add a sheet of regular cardstock beneath the item to be foiled, inside the carrier sheet. The heat is applied from above, so this can help to get the foil closer to the heat. My carrier sheet is just a folded sheet of cheap drawing paper from a pound(dollar) store pad. On rare occasions, I've needed to run something through a second time. Just make sure to let it fully warm up, which can actually take a bit longer than the 'ready' light coming on.
On another note, you can actually do the foiling with a normal household iron! I wanted to add some foil to a canvas board, and wondered if it would work. It does- just make sure to have it inside a carrier sheet, /under copier paper.

I have a Royal Sovereign one that wasn’t very expensive on Amazon—maybe about $25. It’s worked well for me and one time when I didn’t feed the carrier sheet in quite straight and it jammed, it was very easy to unscrew the top and get my paper out.
