Default small or large basic spellbinders

Which is the best size to get in the basics like circles, scalloped large or small?

It's really a matter of personal preference, but here is a great blog post from Nicole Heady that shows pictures of what the different sizes look like:

{capture the moment}: Nestabilities

Scroll down a bit to see the pictures:

Found this on Spellbinders website: The difference between die template sizes within a Nestabilities set is ″, which becomes a ″ border when layering. The difference between LG and SM Nestabilities sets is ″. Combining both the LG and SM sets of Nestabilities will allow for ⅛″ borders when layering.

I have the small and large Spellbinders in the basic shapes-circles, rectangles, squares, ovals, etc. Bought them from U Cut at Home with their 40% off coupon - 1 set a month. If you like to layer, you can use 1 of the small shape and 1 of the large shape to get a narrower mat than using both shapes from a set. Don't know I explained it well but if you use 2 dies from one set, the border of the mat is wider than I like.

Sorry, didn't notice but this is the same thing Colleen mentioned.(Post #3)

It depends on what you are going to do with them... the small might be more advantageous for cardmaking, while the larger sizes might be better for scrapbooking. Having said that, you'll probably want to get both for layering or to have when one size (in the set) is too large and the next size is too small. Having lots of options is a good thing!

I got small and large in circles and ovals. For squares I can't remember which, but I reckoned it was a luxury getting them at all, and they're easy enough to cut your own mats. I just got the large in the scalloped ovals and circles, I thought getting both was probably more than I needed. I've never found myself wishing I had both sizes in the scallops.
