Hi, scrappin nona! My first sentiment stamp set from SU is Sincere Salutations. It only comes woodmounted, but it's so versatile, I love it.
My next purchase will be Delightful Dozen which comes in clear and wood mounts.
I hope this helps.

Sincere Salutations and Short & Sweet are two of my go-to sets and have been for years, but they are also wood mount. I have and use Teeny Tiny Wishes very, very often. It is wood, but even as I start expanding my collection with clear mount sets, I would not convert Teeny Tiny Wishes to clear mount and here is why: In order for the sentiment to be placed exactly where I want it, I use my stamp-a-ma-jig. I use several of the sentiments in that set over and over and so I stamp the sentiment on a piece of vellum and keep that vellum with the stamp set. When I need to stamp it, thanks to the vellum and my SAMJ, it is placed perfectly every time. With clear mount, I can't do that as the placement on the block is never the same. Let us know what set you get--there are a few good one out there, that's for sure!

When this catalog was released my first purchase was Delightful Dozen -- very up-to-date and versatile.

I know that the 'Teeny Tiny Wishes' set seems $$$ but to be honest, this really is my go to set. Most of the sentiments fit the Word Window punch. I like the look of layering with the Modern Label punch. The variety of sentiments are ones I find fit my needs.

I've used Short and Sweet a ton! Heard From The Heart too. My new faves are Friendly Phrases and A Word For You.

You could also check out retired greeting sets in the buy/sell forum here on SCS.
I have found a lot of greeting sets for very reasonable prices.
