Besides flipping sides and ends, I move the item to be cut around on the plate-don't always place it in the center. Place them at different angles, too. I have a Big Shot that I use for most dies that don't cover most of the card stock-i.e. Sizzix flip-it's, stand ups, 3-D items (boxes, bags) etc. so the GC is not my most used die cutting machine. Also, can't use thick dies in the GC. I have had it for several years and am still using my first cutting plate. The plate does get cut marks but doesn't/hasn't bowed.
