I have seen several recipes for making your own twinkling H2O's with pearl Ex and powdered gum arabic, but none with the liquid gum arabic which is what I have. I can not find the powdered gum arabic in any of the stores I have gone into or gone to online. I know that it is a 3 to 1 ratio with the powder, but I am not to sure if it would be the same with the liquid and the pearl ex. Any help that you can give me would be appreciated. Thanks
I have both forms of Gum Arabic and use them interchangeably. Both work pretty much the same. The only difference I've noticed is the liquid form tends to add a bit of a 'sheen' to the surface, almost like a satin varnish, so I would use a bit less if I just wanted a matte surface.
Thank you for the information. I really love the looks of the twinkling H2O's, but I want to use up the supplies that I already have on hand before buying the twinkling H2O's.
jackie, this is the main reason I always preferred Pearl Ex to other forms of mica products. It's so much more versatile! Use as a powder or mix it to a paint. Mix it up with embossing powder, roll it into clay...much more bang for the buck, imo.
Uh oh...now I'm thinking about playing and I'm supposed to be organizing, lol!
I just found this and she uses the liquid Gum Arabic. I did a Google search to find her blog but came up with nothing. She mentioned something at the end of her video but I missed it.
