sixxix and cuttlebug
 

Can anyone tell me how to cut chipboard in either of these machines. I have both and am using the 4x4 thin coaster chipboard with designer paper attached and it won't cut in either machine. I also have a cricut if someone has any luck there. Am I making the sandwich wrong or something?

hmmmmmm I cut thru the coasters just fine with my CB. Maybe its because of the paper on there. How did you apply the paper? Was it with glue? If so, maybe the glue is making it hard to cut thru. Not sure tho.

I run the paper thru my xyron and just put it on the coaster that way. I am wondering if all the humidity we have here in FL is making the chipboard to wet to deal with!

maybe try running your coaster thru without any paper on it.

I tried that too and it does cut but not all the way thru. I had a friend call me in the meantime and she said she has never had any luck with it either unless she uses her sizzix alphabet from a long time ago. I looked at mine and it is the Curlz alphabet but is sizzlix not sure if that would make a difference.

You won't be able to cut chipboard with the Sizzlit dies, sorry! They are a low profile die with a cutting edge that's around 1/16th of an inch thick. :( The only Sizzix dies that will cut through chipboard effectively are the larger, steel rule (original) dies. Those dies have a cutting edge that's almost 1/4th of an inch think, to be able to cut through those really thick mediums like chipboard.

I have heard of people cutting "chipboard" with their Sizzlits, but my guess is that it was VERY thin chipboard - like cereal box chipboard, not the actual HEAVY chipboard. Since the Sizzlits are not designed to cut anything but card stock and designer paper. HTH! :)
