I'm interested in getting the pink ATG and have a question for long time users of the ATG gun. Five years ago I made a mini scrapbook for my grandson using a tape runner (don't remember which brand) for my adhesive. About four years later I was looking at it at his house and some of the pictures had come off. I could easily pop off the other ones. The adhesive had dried up and had no more "stick" left. I took it home and reglued everything with liquid glue. Both my grandson and I live in low humidity climates, so I suppose that could be a factor. Do any of you have years-old cards or scrapbooks that are still sticking with ATG adhesive? Is this just the way dry adhesives react?
I don't have any projects that old that I can check but I do know that ATG tape is used by many professional picture framers so my guess is it's pretty long lasting!
If you use ATG tape your items will not fall apart...I am sure even in 5 years. I have had mine for about 4 years and I do have cards I have made back then with it and the items I put on with the ATG are still firmly attached.
blessings.
I did my daughter's bridal shower invites 3 years ago & my son's wedding programs (which has lots of layers ) 2 years ago & the layers are still together & not going anywhere...they are stuck for eternity!!! Hope that apply's to the marriages as well...I'm sure their stuck together like the glue for eternity too!!!
Thank you Kate and Rita for adding to the comments. I appreciate hearing everyone's opinions about the ATG. It has helped me make a decision to purchase one. Amber, I have my 50% coupon printed and ready to go!
That's a good point, Lynn. It can be tricky to get embossed paper to stick, especially on the edges. It bugs me if my layers aren't adhered on the edges.
3M Gold ATG tape sticks for at least 7 years, maybe much longer, for all I know. The bond is the tightest of all the tapes/glues I've ever used. The flip side of the coin is that your first pass is your last.....there's no fixing an "OOPS!" If I could own only one adhesive, it would be 3M Gold ATG.
