Silhouette SD Help Please...
Hi - I have just bought a Silhouette SD and I am having issues with the cutting mat.
According to the instructions I remove the green backing from the clear mat and stick the paper to the adhesive area. OK all well and good but the paper sticks to it (which I guess is the point) but when you take it off the paper stays stuck and tears. Am I doing something wrong? Also what is the white mat for? Sorry if I seem ditzy I have never had anything like this before and it is overwhelming. Thankful for any advice you can offer. |
I'm not sure about the different mats, since I have the original one and it only has one. It sounds like your mat is too sticky. Maybe take a t-shirt (or something that doesn't produce lint) and dab it on and off the mat to take away some stickiness?
I know QK customer service is really helpful too. |
Thank you so much Michelle!

I think you are using the wrong mat. The white mat is for thinner paper and the green one is for thicker paper like bazzill or kent paper (whatever that is).

The clear mat is for light paper such as computer print paper or light DP.
The green mat is for your heavier paper. Don't pat your mat with a towel. It's ok for the Cricut mats. I always use a soft t-shirt when I pat down my Cricut mats. With the Silhouette mats you can gunk up the blade housing and dull the blade. It's a lighter machine and the mats are lighter. It can't take any fuzzies very well. My green mat was very sticky too. My paper also stuck. I was using my paper scraper to remove the mess it left. That helped get some of the stickies off. I wish I knew how to properly make the mats less stick with the Silhouette too. The Silhouette is so delicate compared to the Cricut machines or other die cutters. I always have to treat mine differently than my Gazelle or Cricut. |
