Default Cricut Help

I took out my Cricut to make some Xmas gifts last minute and it is tearing all of my paper. I have tried various combs of pressure, speed, etc, different types/weight of paper, new blade, new mat, resetting it like it said to on their site. So... I called support and the lady asked me when I got it so I told her I couldn't remember and did not have the receipt. She said it sounds like the whole machine needs to be replaced and it would cost me $50. I am a little ticked seeing I have only used 4 mats on this thing so you can understand how little I have used it! What should I do? Should I call back and tell them I was wrong it was less than a year ago? She said they have no way of knowing other than me telling her. I don't want to be dishonest but for goodness sakes, when I paid $180 for it I think I have a right to be upset!!

Hi!
Sorry this is happening. I saw on the DVD that came with my new expression to back off the pressure on the blade, because if it's set deep it will tear the paper as it drags across the paper. Also, make sure the black arrow faces you, is it possible the blade is in the arms the wrong direction. Other than that, I don't know. I'm sorry.

I have had this problem with mine. I had to adjust the blade. When you place the blade housing in the "arm" try adjusting the arrow a little to the left of center and see if that helps. If not, try a little to the right. Just play with it a bit with some of your not so favorite paper. If that doesn't do it, then I guess it really is dead.
