I have enough stuff to choke a horse, but this definately has my wallet itching! Plus it may make a great door prize at my breast cancer crop in October.
What do you think?

Wow! Thanks so much for posting the links! I want one so bad, but know I'll have to wait and save up a bit first. And wow, thanks so much for posting the link to Taylor VanBruggen's blog, she has some great ideas!!

I saw the demo at CHA...it's pretty cool. But since I have a Cricut and rarely use it except for flowers and such, I doubt that I invest another $150 for something that is so similar in its abilities. If you don't have a Cricut, I would highly recommend it.
I questioned the guy demonstrating about how many cuts you could get with a blade and while he didn't specifically answer my question, he said he had been cutting with the same blade all day. I like that it cuts on a glass surface (no adhesive pads to buy) but you do have to use a spray adhesive to keep the paper on the glass...(another expense) and, like the Cricut, you have to purchase the cartridges to get different designs.
One cool thing he did mention was that at CHA in Chicago in July, they would be introducing a way to upload your own images that you create so that the machine would cut them. Now that is something that the Cricut can't do.

Actually, now you CAN cut things other than from Cricut cartridges using the Sure Cuts a Lot software found here. It only cuts True Type fonts but if you use a converter software program you can convert images to TT. (I haven't tried this software.)

I know the guy who designed the Slice!!! I got to play with a prototype one night at Christmas time! It's pretty cool! My favorite feature was that you can choose the size of the image.
I've been holding my tongue about it until it was released!
This looks really cool, like something that I could keep on my desk without taking much space. I also like that the mat doesn't need to be replaced very often (I think?).
But - the demo on YouTube looked really slow. By the time you push all the buttons then wait for the shape to cut out.....could have punched it or die cut it.

I have to agree - I saw it in person and I was like, sheesh, is it done already? I wasn't all that impressed.
Yes, it would fit easily on your desk or in your scrapping tote. And, no, I don't think the mat would have to be replaced very often. You do have to use spray adhesive enough to keep it tacky.

wowwie wow wow! thank you so much.. I have the Stampin' UP! fonts in my computer and would LOVE to be able to cut them out using my Cricut.. you made my day! Pam

This did prompt me to start searching for all the other CHA youtube videos.
I've talked with the designer's wife since I last posted here. Asked her your questions. Here are the answers:
The girls and I did our own tests these past weeks and are getting over 200 shapes of various sizes in cardstock before changing blades. The mats never need to be replaced and we don't know how long a spray can lasts because no one has run out of one yet! We only sprayed once for about 8 hours of continuous cutting at the show and we spray less than that when testing here. If you cut thin paper which would easily curl back upon itself, you would want to spray a little more on, but if not, it sticks to the glass and works for a long time.
And the BIG question about it for me is..How much are the cartridges going to run? That's what keeps me from investing in the Cricut, etc....sheesh, all that money for one type of font, I just go to the sticker/rub-on isle ( :
Not only does it seem slow....you gotta hold it. with the cricut i can push the button and go....with quickutz i can punch and go...by the time you pick your shape hold the cutter and watch it cut soooo slowly, I would cringe at the thought of having to cut a title or multple items......I think I will avoid the expense.....

Cartridges are teeny SC chip size (lovely for storage) and will be $39.
Each has at least 150 shapes and each shape comes in 7 or 8 sizes. There
are currently 3 Basic chips, and Animal Cracker chip, and a Noteworthy chip.
They go with each Making Memories design line. They will just keep coming!
