Default Winter Frolic - Cricut Cartridge

I just got this cartridge today. I used it to cut several images but maybe I am doing something wrong. I placed a 12x12 piece of cardstock on my mat, loaded it into the machine, selected an image and pushed 'Cut'. For some reason, the image starts to cut about 1 1/2" down from the top of the page. Cut several images with the blade positioned at the top of the page but when it cuts, it drops down 1 1/2". The images cut out fine. Just want to know why it wastes that 1 1/2"?

Posted this question on the Cricut Message Board also but know there a lots of knowledgeable, helpful Cricut users on this site.
