I just bought the Sizzix 'Flower Layers #3' and want to use it to cut out flower shapes to layer. I don't want to just use paper; I want the lighter look and feel of Primas. I know that I can cut material but do you use heavy starch to give the fabric more body? (The cover pictures of the layered flower appears to be made out of fabric.) Can you use lightweight Pellon like stuff and dye it with markers? Would appreciate any suggestions. TIA
There was a tut on someone's blog where she cut out or punched paper flowers and used an embossing tool to give dimension to the paper but mine didn't turn out like her ('same old story'). It was too much work for my crummy results.
If you have SU paper (I don't know if other brands work this way), you can separate it into two layers after you cut it out. The inside is a little fuzzy, but it looks great for flowers. You might dampen it a little bit to shape it, then let it dry before using.
If you're using paper, handmade paper is the key to getting realistic-looking homemade Primas.

Thank you to everyone who has posted suggestions. I will try the SU paper & handmade paper ones plus of course, all the other materials.
Just thought, after buying the multi-layer flower die, that there must be something I could use to make the die cut flower have more dimension. I know that when sending cards, flatter is better but visually, dimension 'looks' nicer.
