Default CD case storage help?

I have been unmounting my stamps and putting them in CD cases and I have bought a tower for the CD's to store them on my desk top. Now I would like to buy a portable case so I can take them with me when I wish to and I thought maybe you ladies had an idea of what I should buy. I can't seem to find anything in the area where they sell the CD cases. Any ideas?

I have a question for you. Do you take the squishy rubber off the back of the stamp? I have some cheap CD cases that I picked up at Staples and they are too thin to put the stamps in without pulling the spongy stuff off the back. I really hate to do that if I don't have to. Are the CD cases that you use a little thicker?

You need to buy the "jewel" cases, not the "slim" ones. Ran into this problem mys elf. the jewel cases are the "old kind" - just "pop out" where the CD goes (if present) and your stamps will fit just fine. I have mine mounted on the rubber AND thin EZ Mount, no problems closing the cases.

As for carrying cases...I haven't seen anything for the cases themselves. I think once they started making all of thoise puches to carry a number of CDs in anythign dealing with the case went out the window. You might try Home Depot or one of those places - they have lots of great utility bags, very strong & sturdhe, and there might be one just the right size to stack a bunch of CD cases (vertical or stacked on top of each other.)

I hope this helps!!

I don't carry many when I go somewhere. For storage at home, I bought 3 of the big heavy cardboard, decorated photo boxes at Michaels which are supposed to be photo safe. They had several sizes. These are a bit longer and much taller than a standard shoe box and have the metal corner reinforcments and a metal label holder on the end. They do not fasten shut. Its been a while since I bought them, they were on sale and may all be gone by now. My M's still has other boxes. Last count, I had around 130 CD's and have a litte room left in the last box. I haul all 3 to my DD's when we stamp/scrap. ;)

Here's a place where you can get CD cases with no trays (the part that holds the CD - you would remove it and throw it away anyhow). You can get 100 CD cases for just $13.99. They ship very fast, too!

I get my clear cases (no trays) at Rima.com. 200 for $24.

What is the item number for these cases? I followed the link but it just takes me to their home page. I order my ink from Meritline. (Excellent generic, by the way!) I have tried seaching for these CD cases too but I can't find them. After I go through my next 200 cases, I probably won't need to order another 200.

Thanks!!!!

When I pull out my CD inserts I save them for burned CD's that my DH and DS's make on our computer. It is easy to just set them in there and then stack them. We used the burned CD's in our car also instead of the real CD's. Less chance of getting stolen. Also I also give them to my kids for their video games when they cannot find their true cases.
The other thing I use them for is for paint and for watercoloring. I put the ink right on the insert and then you can rinse it off for next time or throw it away. This is also good for kids paint projects as well.

I have recently seen the boxes made like the cardboard photo boxes that are square and made for CDs. I believe I have seen them at Hobby Lobby and Target.

This thread had been very helpful. I have been storing my stamp sets that I converted to EZ Mounts on white boards that fit into a ring bound notebook. I have to try the CD case idea. I am not sure which I will like better.
Thanks for all information.

I got a big one at IKEA for, I think, $2.97 or $3.97. I got 2 of them. I store one on it's side to put my inkpads into and the other i have my CD cases. It zips shut and is very sturdy. I should have bought 2 more. These are transportable too.

I could kick myself now.... when we were first married I had my DH yard sale 3 big zipper CD cases (held around 50 each.) We only kept one that holds about 20. :( But I use it whenever I go to a crop or a stamp night.

I used to use the white boards in a 3 ring binder but once in a while one some will fall off and you can lose them that way. I love the CD cases much better.

I use the case logic case and love it - the really nice thing is if you are going away for a weekend or extended time and want to take alot of stamps - you can stack 5 of those cases onto a luggage roller and have ALL your stamps with you! Just love it! You can also take the fabric cover off the plastic holder and stach them like bookshelves - so they can be your permanet staorage at home as well and when you go on the road you just oput the fabric back on.

Have any of you used the DVD cases? They are bigger than a CD case and you can get a whole lager set of stamps in one case with those. I love them for my bigger sets to be able to keep them all together in one case.
I get mine from http://www.sleevetown.com/dvd-case.shtml they are called Super Jewel Box KING DVD case. (be sure not to get Slim) They come with the insert in them - I have not been able to find them from anywhere without.
