Recently bought the Coluzzle...

Had been thinking about it for months and finally got it. Haven't used the oval and square templates yet just the tags. I really like it.

My question is how do you know when to replace the cutting mat?

I've been using mine for while now (I've had the tag template for about a year and use it the most). I've never replaced the blade or the cutting mat.

JulieHRR 05-20-2005 06:59 AM

I've used same mat for 2 years!! I bought an extra when I spotted it at a RS store, just in case, but haven't had to use it yet. :)

I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE my Coluzzle!!!! I wants more templates!!!! All the cool ones that Stampendous has developed for Provo Craft--the manufacturer. But, they are not available retail yet . . . waaaaah. I've been hoping SU! would EXPAND the collection . . .

Jovi 05-20-2005 07:07 AM

I think I'm going on 2 yrs. and haven't changed it. ;)

Jeanniebabes 05-20-2005 07:19 AM

I got the circle and oval template and a pack of replacement blades at a garage sale for $1 :) All I had to do was buy the knife and the mat. That was about a month ago. Yesterday when I was at JoAnns, I saw the knife on clearance for $7.

leney 05-20-2005 07:23 AM

I been using my for at least 4 years and just changed the mat. I have changed the swivel blade once. That was after a big project that I have cut out dozens og alphabet letters. I have a great many of their templates and love them all!
Happy coluzzling!

needsmorestamps! 05-20-2005 08:22 AM

I was just wondering the same last night :)

Last night was the first time I've changed the blade in about 3 years. You could tell it needed changed because it kept tearing the paper. I last used the blade on shrink plastic so it didn't surprise me that I needed to change the blade.

YESINDIDI 05-20-2005 08:57 AM

That's good to know. I've got a ways to go then. I am hoping to add more templates over time.

I passed up on the circle template because I have the Fiskars circle cutter which I'm successful at using. But I can't say that with the Fiskars oval cutter.

I find it very relaxing when guiding that blade around those channels.

Anywhere on the web we can check these out? What new ones are they planning?

scrappiemommie 05-20-2005 03:56 PM

I have never replaced my mat and i am going on 5 or 6 years!!!

I just bought the mini envelope template and am getting the file folders and library pocket ones as soon as my special order arrives at the LSS I work at :)

scrappiemommie 05-20-2005 03:59 PM

Here's the file folders
http://www.provocraft.com/products/d...temnum=44-5328

library pockets:
http://www.provocraft.com/products/d...temnum=44-5329

and if you go their home page of products I imagine you can see any and all of the ones they offer.

StampinPixie 05-20-2005 05:24 PM

I posted this on another thread but didn't get a really good reply.

I just did a swap and had to change the blade 3 times. It wasn't that the blade itself was dull. The little plastic nib at the top of the blade would wear off and start scratching the template. I still kept the blades, but am I doing something wrong?

keagle 05-20-2005 06:31 PM

I bought the shoe template a few weeks ago! So MUCH fun!

OK -- not to hijack this thread -- but is is col"uh"zzle, like rhymes with puzzle, or col"oo"zzle, like rhymes with bamboozle?

I'm dying to know!

BTW, I love mine!!! Though it takes concentration for me to cut SU! cardstock without slipping, due to the thickness!

Garnet 05-21-2005 01:07 AM

I think it rhymes with bamboozle. :)

scrown8301 05-21-2005 01:24 AM

I have had my colluzle for a year and a half or so and I have never replaced the mat or the blade. I only have the circle and oval templates. I NEED to get more. :D

JennTate 05-21-2005 02:36 AM

Great! Another thing to add to my ever expanding wishlist!

YESINDIDI 05-21-2005 06:31 AM

This is only a guess StampinPixie but are you using too much pressure? Maybe someone here with more Coluzzle experience would know.

HeatherJ 05-21-2005 07:06 AM

My local store had a brief history sheet posted and it had the pronunciation as rhyming with Puzzle, but I know no one here says it that way and once I did I was corrected :-)

My question is..... I have the 'starter kit" with oval and heart puzzle shape (that I bet I will NEVER use) - do I need to pick up the companion oval - will that give me smaller mat sizes?

I want the coming Stampendous slider card one!!!! WAAAAY! :D

But, really, I've searched and searched and nobody retail online carries them yet. . .

I want the library pocket and the file folder ones, too!!!!!! :(

Scrappiemommie, will the LSS you work at be getting the slider one soon?????

Provo seems to release all this product info at their site, but, then it can literally be 6 mos. down the road before the product appears even in THEIR OWN retail online site, creativexpress.com !!!!!!! Drives me NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Little coluzzle tip:

I have the template that has three different tag shapes on it and I made it into a bookplate shape by cutting out one side of the tag, then turning the template around so that both sides had the 'bump' or top of the tag on it.

Check it out!

The copper flower is from Colorbok, and I found it at Big Lots.

YESINDIDI 05-21-2005 10:46 AM

TFS your neat ideas! I'm going to try those with my tag template.

purpleink 06-02-2005 06:13 PM

A friend of mine just told me that the new templates are available at CreativeXpress
http://www.creativexpress.com

and CrazyScraps.
http://store.crazyscraps.com/coluzzle.html

They also have a scoring tool!
