Question Have you tried the direct to paper technique with the craft ink?

I would love to see some samples. I have the craft pads except for the new colors. I'm deciding if I "NEED" the spots. The direct to paper technique would be the main reason I would want them. Other than that I like being able to ink smaller areas of a stamp. I tried searching for some samples but I can't find any.

Look at Beate's tutorial in the resources section.
Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers
Go to gallery, scroll down (past the alpha lists) and click on techniques. In the techniques gallery, click on 'Spotted Background.' You will *really* want to buy the craft spots after you see these.
PS. If the gallery is not responding, don't give up.... try your refresh button.

Actually, people started doing DTP with craft (pigment) pads (the little cats eye pads from Clearsnap)! Since pigment ink stays wet longer, they are much better to blend with than classic (dye) inks. The colors are also much more vibrant.

You do want to pick your colors first, and then start with the lightest shade first, working your way up to the darkest. This will prevent still-wet ink from staining your pads. If you want, you can heat set the ink when you are done to speed up drying. Careful, though, because it can get stinky, lol!

Garnetj,

Thank you so much. Well not really cause now I do really want the spots... ALL OF THEM! LOL! The technique you sent was exactly what I wanted. Darn- it! OKay now I have to figure out how I can do this, I'm a hobby demo, who spends way way too much. Thanks again.
