Raskog love

Now I know why crafters are crazy about this cart! Anyone else have one? So sturdy and it holds so much. And so inexpensive! Love IKEA. Much as I hate to spend my crafting budget on non-stamp items, might have to get another one :D

Here's a picture of my new love:

RÅSKOG Utility cart - IKEA

UnderstandBlue 10-06-2015 12:31 PM

OMG I think we were separated at birth! :) I JUST bought one - they didn't used to sell it online. I think it's a great value and I got the aqua one - it holds all my framelits on the Stamp-n-Storage magnet cards on top and then all my Big Shot platforms, plates, etc. It's the bomb and very well made.

QueenOfInkland 10-06-2015 01:44 PM

I NEED this haha but don't find it online for $30 and no Ikea near me.

Did you guys find this online for $30 each or did you have to get it at an Ikea store to get that price?

uncbballfan 10-06-2015 01:50 PM

No, I don't have one... I have FOUR. All bought at separate times. All aqua.

Ok, the first one I bought to hold all my Copics (top shelf) and Copic supplies. So that if I wanted to pile up in the bed and color, I could just roll it into my bedroom.

The second one, top shelf, holds all the current stamp sets and dies I'm working with (it's usually full). Second shelf: adhesives, inspiration cards, embellies. Third shelf: embossing powder, embossing gun, cutting plates for my Big Shot.

The third one holds all other coloring supplies: watercolors, gelatos, Zig Clean Color brush pens (although I'm not enamored with those yet...), TH markers, brushes, watercolor paper and my beloved iridescent medium. If you guys haven't tried Windsor & Newton iridescent medium with your watercolors, run, don't walk to your nearest Michaels! And have your coupon ready because a little bottle is $10, but will last forever.

The fourth one is currently serving as my nightstand.

I absolutely LOVE these carts- they enable me to keep at least a 12" square, clear work space on my desk.

uncbballfan 10-06-2015 01:54 PM

They used to be $49.99, but came down in price sometime this year. I figured they were getting ready to discontinue them, so that's how I ended up with #'s 3 & 4.

And yes, you can order them at the $29.99 price online. I believe it's only $10 shipping, which isn't bad, because these suckers are heavy! Read the fine print concerning delivery before you order!

You don't see it at that price at her link?

That's what I bought it for. IKEA (the store) gives me the hives so I was stoked to order it online.

You can order it online via that link for $29.99 plus approximately $10 for shipping. It is a bargain at $39.99 as plastic rolling carts cost the same or more and break! If this cart wasn't available online before, I'm very grateful it is now!

cat_woman 10-06-2015 03:02 PM

I just looked at the Canadian site because I'm looking for more vertical type storage and its $69.99 Cdn. BOOOOOO!

I just checked on a calculator – that's only about American $10 over what we pay. Imo, it's worth it!

I got confused  by the check stock in store option LOL. Thanks, Lydia, and ALL you enablers.......with your help I was just able to order 2 of these online - woohoo!!!

Soooo glad I saw this thread. I've had these in my Amazon wish list for a while now, but I didn't want to pay $60 each and now I got them for $30 each - how cool is that!!!!!!

Thanks so much, guys:)

buggainok 10-07-2015 10:35 AM

Okay - just ordered the cart! Now I get to order more stuff to fill it up, right?

The exchange rate has really tanked and unfortunately its more than that. $30US is about $40CDN. The Canadian Ikea site is listing it for $70CDN - so almost double the price. It drives me crazy

Well, that's not right! Isn't there someone you can visit down here?

Oh, I feel your pain :( But even with that said......The same item here is $80.00 and the Alex 6 Drawer on wheels is $200.00!! As much as I want the Alex set of drawers, I'd much rather spend those dollars on more stamps and ink! ;)

MrsStack79 10-08-2015 12:12 PM

If your on FB check out the Pimp My Roskog page. People are painting them and everything.

Boss 10-08-2015 08:27 PM

Loaded into cart, went through rigamorole to sign in and then it said it was unavailable to purchase! Ugh....it's been that kind of day...

Iridescent medium gives you shimmery effects when mixed with watercolors or when brushed over the top of watercolors after they have dried.

If you have used shimmer spray mists or Twinkling H2O's, the effect is similar, but you have greater control with the iridescent medium. You can see in the second photo that the medium is cloudy looking; that's because all of the "shimmer" is in the bottom of the jar; you have to keep this well shaken while you're using it. The effect is also very similar to Wink of Stella, which has me wondering if this is what they use in those brush pens...

Copperkids 10-09-2015 09:14 PM

Thank you Linda! I will get some this weekend. I was just at hobby lobby today. But have to swing by michaels over the weekend

uncbballfan 10-10-2015 08:52 AM

They have iridescent medium for watercolor and for acrylic paint, so be sure to get the right one.

If you have some patterned paper that you want to tone down and add some shimmer to, the iridescent medium for acrylic paint is good for that.

Okay - time to whine a little.

The good news is - I got my Raskog cart today.

The bad news is - I got my Raskog cart today!

I knew in a general sort of way that I would need to assemble the cart. But I had no idea it would be so complicated! So many brackets and screws and bolts! I am a little overwhelmed to say the least.

I have assembled stuff, but it's not high on my list of fun things to do. I need to get myself in the proper frame of mind to do this.:)

How long did it take you guys to do it?

OK confession time: I got all of those little black screws into the holes and it was shaky and I wasn't sure I was doing things right (can you tell I've been here before?) So I called my wonderful neighbor and he came over and finished it in about seven minutes :D He barely looked at the pictures!

Once you get all the little screws into the holes it will be shaky until you slide the shelves down in between the two upright metal tubes, is what I learned. Then you just need to hold those plates on the outside and screw in the nuts and bolts. It does take some dexterity. Better yet, invite someone handy over to dinner and have them help you finish it. :D

I wish I had a "wonderful neighbor." My neighborhood has a lot of single women for some reason. My sweet hubby is ooold - 90 on his last birthday, but he had absolutely no mechanical ability even when he was younger, so I've always been the one to do stuff like this.

I remember one time a few years ago and I was teasing him about his lack of skill in that department. I said "You don't know anything about cars." He grinned at me and said, "Well, maybe not, but I know how to pay for them." Point made!:)

I'm slogging along, cussing a little as I go, lol. I'm about half-way through and can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

buggainok 10-13-2015 02:11 PM

Hooray! My Raskog cart is all assembled, and I love it!:)

Looking at the times of my posts, it only took a couple of hours. (But I took a couple of coffee breaks.)

Glad you got it all worked out, Bugga :)

My carts are due for delivery to me tomorrow. I got the rustoleum paint today - gonna spray paint them babies white to match my furniture...........woohoo.................

Boss 10-14-2015 04:32 PM

Ok, I went back to the website and tried again to get it to load and allow me to checkout with the cart. It worked this time! Before hitting the submit button, I asked DH if he would assemble it for me...he asked to see a picture of the cart before agreeing! Smart man....
Expects delivery Oct 21. You ladies are expert enablers, I'm just sayin'

uncbballfan 10-14-2015 05:58 PM

Bugga, I was gonna say that the first one took me about 2 hours. The 4th one took about 30 minutes.

And so very glad that these carts come in turquoise, because my studio is white with turquoise accents. Or at least it is now... :)

TeeGeeDee 10-15-2015 04:56 PM

Okay ... I know I want one (in aqua). And, I know they hold a lot but what I don't know (yet) is how many do I need. I have lots of unorganized things and need some portability.

So ... I'd love to see real-life photos of what you are storing in the cart. If you can't share photos a list of items is also welcomed!

TIA and ...

Happy Crafting!

Tina,

Here are some YouTube vidoes:

I'm going to check these videos out myself this weekend to get ideas :)

I have 3 Raskogs and LOVE them. I keep one in my walk-in closet that is awesome. The other two are in my studio. One is for some of my art journaling supplies. The other is for my project life stuff. :) Here is a photo of one. I have a video too. It shows up in the link posted above. My channel is KiwiKorner. :)

Thanks for the links and photos. Some other things are going on and I might have a different craft space so will put off ordering for a bit longer. I think I'd like one for Christmas/Winter themed items and another for basic/general crafting supplies.

Love the picture! Can you tell me where you got the cups and baskets that hang off the side? I'm not sure what keywords or search terms to use…

It's all from IKEA. I ordered it together. I have them all listed and linked to IKEA in this post. Hope it helps. :)

QueenOfInkland 10-19-2015 03:28 PM

I haven't put mine together yet but good news is I don't have to paint them. My curtains have aqua in them. Now I am on the prowl looking for other metal things that I can spray paint white LOL - I get on a spray painting kick and want to spray paint everything hahaha
