Cuttlebug embossing folder - right side up question
Ok, I am almost embarrassed to ask this question....
I have a cuttlebug that has words on it. (The Snowman embossing folder). I thought the "right side" was the side that is RAISED. Well on this one, looks like the right side is the side that is "down" (valley). Is that true? When I look at examples on SCS, to me it looks like the right side is RAISED. HELP! LOL
This is the only large folder with words that de-bosses instead of embosses. Bugged me too! I called Provo and let them know it was backwards from the way the other folders worked and should have been labeled as a de-bosser folder. I'm sure they are not going to re-mold this and re-do it, so it is what is, unfortunately! :(
I have been searching all morning to an answer to this question. I thought I had a defective folder and I ashamed to admit that I even tried putting through the CB upside down to see if it would make a differance- DUH !!!! it didn't help a bit.
I really wish this folder were an embosser instead of a debosser.
I have even backed off on buying other folders with words on them because I was affraid I would have the same problem, or are all the words de-bossed?

How funny is this thread... I just had a friend ask me yesterday about this very folder and how to get the words embossed. I don't have it, so couldn't really help her out.
I have lots of other word folders and as far as I can remember, they all emboss the words, so they are raised up on the cardstock.
i love the way this folder looks. its different & it looks like writing in the snow.
if it were done in the reverse, i think it would look silly and also just like all other folders.
I was confused at first about this. No, its not embarrassing. The words on the folder say "Cuttlebug" that is the right side up to me. That is what I go by.

I have the Thanks folder and the words are raised. I didn't know that about the snow folder. That's strange! There are others with a similar design, like the baby one and the friend folder. Those have raised words, don't they?

Yes, those folders are true embossing folders with raised letters rather than the de-bossed style of the snowman folder. To my knowledge, the snowman folder is the only folder with words that debosses the lettering.

What a great way to look at this folder. Maybe now more people will like it and not complain that it was made wrong.

I think you misunderstand the reason for complaints about the folder. People are "complaining" because the folder was erroneously marketed as an embosser and they purchased it thinking the words would "emboss" like the name implied.
It is wonderful that some people like it the way it is, but a good attitude won't change the fact that the words on the folder do not emboss.

there is no rule that states that the words in the design are always embossed and therefore if it is debossed it should be marketed as such.
emboss means to "to raise or represent (surface designs) in relief." and the majority folder does just that, produces a raised image of blocks, with design indentation in the middle of the blocks.
i really doubt if the folder had something other than words for the identation there would be as much complaints that it should be called a debossing folder.
provocraft is not at fault for this. i cant remember if the packaging had a sample image. if it didnt, than thats the only way they screwed up, not having customers see the results of what they were buying before had. if the packaging did, then its buyer error. if it was purchased online, it can be seen on the provocraft website what the results would be.
