Proper lighting
My craft room is pretty dark. What do you suggest for a lamp to use for proper lighting for coloring and stamping. Thank you!

I love my OttLite ( https://smile.amazon.com/OttLite-717...007501&sr=8-45). It doesn't take up much room and it illuminates wonderfully. The lighting in the various rooms I've been crafting in over the years has not been the best. This little lamp has helped me through it all. There are many different styles of OttLite. I linked the one I have because it is the one I'm familiar with.

I upped the wattage of the bulbs in the overhead light fixture and I, too, love an Ott light for directly illuminating my work surface. I got my Ott on clearance at Michael's so keep your eyes out for a deal!

I agree! I have a table top OttLite that folds up and I love it, i've had it for over 10 years and have never had any issues with it. It's just like the one ComradeBunny posted but in pink (when I was in my pink phase, now I love turquoise. LOL!)

We have pot lights in the ceilings in our lower level and put LED lights in a couple years ago. My little card room is down there and those made a big difference. There's only one window in the end of the room so I have a halogen desk lamp I use sometimes too. It's never had a bulb replacement in the 10 years I've had it. Since it does get hot I would probably change to an OttLite once it quits working.

The Ott lights are great, I have one, and for good light all the time, I have florescent Daylight bulbs in my strip lights.

Mine is pink too. I couldn't find one on Amazon, so I used the white.

Another vote for OttLites. I have 2 and I bought 2 more for my daughters. All were found at Tuesday Morning (I wasn't looking for them, just stumbled across them).

I cannot work without an OttLite.
The one I have is similar to this one but I don't have the magnifier:

My husband installed a shop light in my craft area which lights up the area well. I also have Ott Lights on my desk that give added light. What I love about Ott Lights is that the light is easy on the eyes while illuminating my stamping desk area well.

I have a ceiling fan with four lights to it and it works fine for me.

Here is the lamp, OR THE CLOSEST to what I use on my desk:
https://www.amazon.com/Architect-Dim...e_s_sparkle_td
I LOVE IT! You can swing it, raise it or lower it! AND there are different brightness' & tones to the light.
I am DONE with the Ott Lights, as you can't find the bulbs when you need them, or they just quit working.... UNLESS, someone proves to me otherwise, I'll go with another lamp. LOL

Another vote for the Ottlite. I had a halogen lamp before, but it did get very warm under the lamp. When it died, got the Ottlite and I do not regret it.

If you don't want to invest in an Ott lite lamp, they do sell replacement bulbs with the Edison base. That's what I use, in a clamp-on desk lamp that has an extension arm. Michael's carries them, in a 25 watt version & 15 watt. I forget which one I have, though it may be the 25 watt. As I said, they have the regular Edison-style screw-in base, so you can use them in any light fixture that accepts that style of bulb. I already had the lamp for my desk, so getting just the bulb was a no-brainer. It has lasted me a long time so far, and shows no sign of blowing out yet. JoAnn's sells them, too, but they cost a bit more there, unless you get a good coupon. Hope this helps!

I bought an LED light on Amazon (I have seen them at Walmart and Bed, Bath and Beyond, too.) that you plug in to charge. When it is ready, unplug it. You hit the <on> button and it has a couple bright settings. The base is small and the arm is like a gooseneck and adjustable. It fits in a small space and is bright enough. They also have some that clip on.
It was about $10-15.

Here is another vote for Ott Lights. I got mine at JoAnn's - and they often have sales both on Ott Lights and their bulbs, which is pretty sweet! You can also use the 40% off on them. Here is the link to the one I have on my desk - I like the flexible neck and the fact that there is a USB port in the base that I can use for my phone so I can keep it close and charged. Oh - and four settings of brightness! https://www.joann.com/ottlite-creati...lights&start=1HTH - Joni

My hubby hung a light about 26 inches directly over my work area. It has one of those funny coiled bulbs, but gives me plenty of light for card making. Best thing we've ever done for my hobby.

That is the kind of light bulbs my ceiling fan has. I get so hot, so the ceiling fan with lights is ideal for me.

Proper lighting
I, too, love my (desk-sized) Ott lamp--several brightness settings, adjustable, slim profile and a long-time-ago clearance deal. AND it's aqua to match my craft room

Proper lighting
My hubby just put a shop light in my craft room. And it's amazing how much light I have now. He put it right above where I work & he put daylight bulbs in it. And I love my lighting now.

Here's another vote for OttLite! I held out for a very long time, then one day I happened into Joann's when they were finishing up inventory. They had a whole cart stacked high and I got two (hey--never hurts to have a back up!) that were normally about $100 for $25 each! Plus, one of them has a magnifier on it! They told me it was an older style and they had to clear it out for the new one. Worked for me! I love mine.

Thank you for this! I had a desktop Ottlite but hated the footprint (I need a clear workspace), so knowing that I can put one of these bulbs in my floor lamp will be a game-changer for me!

This is the one that I got 2½ years ago and I love it! It doesn't take up any room and it is long so it gives a lot of light on my desk (which is large). It has 2 settings. I always use it on the brightest one. I don't like the Ott lights because they take up too much room on my already messy desk! The price is on sale now but I don't think I spent anywhere near that price when I purchased it! However, if I had to buy it again, I would pay whatever I had to pay!

I'm NOW on the hunt for ANOTHER LIGHT! CRYING HERE!!! I KNOW I haven't had my light for long. Will have to check the packaging etc. I won't go with the Ott Light, at least for now. My light is turning itself off & on & dimming too! A GREMLIN??? LOL I don't like that it is doing this & wonder if it is getting ready to die? I like someone's comment about a SHOP LIGHT!!! Now on the hunt for one of those!
