I am contemplating making the big purchase of the Cricut the larger one, and heard about the wishblade. Does anyone know which is better? DH says he is going to get it for me for Mother's Day! I love that man!
I don't have a Wishblade but I do have a Cricut machine. I also have the Design Studio software ($60) from Provo Craft so that I can weld letters and shapes from the Cricut cartridges. I also have the Sure Cuts A Lot software ($70) from www.craftsedge.com that lets me print True Type fonts and dingbats as well as .svg file types. You can use a free program called Inkscape (www.inkscape.org) that lets you convert other image types to .svg.
So basically, the Sure Cuts A Lot software balances the playing field with the Wishblade/Silhouette market plus you can still use the cartridges if you choose to.

I just bought a Cricut and I think it is easy and user friendly! I went to a crop and a lady has the wishblade and it seems more involved and many more layers for details and I didn't like the complicatedness of it.
love, Love, LOVE my cricut!!!!

OMG - Thanks for posting about this. I am a graphic designer and have been looking for ways to cut my own die cuts with my Cricut. Will definitely be getting this software!
I used the Cricut at a friend's house. It was very nice - portable etc.. It wasn't the one that is PC-compatible.
I have a Wishblade and I love it. It wasn't difficult for me, but I am fairly computer savvy because of my background/training (Business System's Analyst by day).
I use Inkscape or Illustrator to digitize my own designs for cutting.
If I used the WB for nothing but titles, I'd be happy. I love that I can use so many different fonts in so many different sizes.
I personally own a WB and rarely use it. I love that I can cut out any font or shape I want, but it is such a hassle to drag it out. I would therefore vote for the cricut!

I don't understand your post. All of the Cricut machines are PC compatible. You do need the Design Studio software (or the Sure Cuts A Lot software). Each Cricut machine (Personal or Expression) has an A/B USB port in the back.

Does anyone know can you run paper through the xyron to make it a sticker and then run it through the Cricut?
From what I've read, if you have the Expression machine (or the Design Studio software with either machine) this will work good. You'd put the backing side up with the paper side on the mat. Then you have to flip the image (with the software or the button on the Expression machine) that you are cutting so that the adhesive is on the back.

Kimberly, you da woman! My sister was at a friend's house and it wasn't working - and my sister was frustrated cause she is a directions kind of girl and didn't have time to figure it out. Her friend does have the smaller machine and doesn't have the expressions bundle. Thanks!
Ok, ladies - I want you to know that I have taken your advice/information and I bought it, I bought it! I got my cricut! My husband really got it for me! I will play with it tomorrow I get out of work early, I am so stoked! Thanks to everyone who posted on this thread.
Walmart for the machine itself and I will get the other stuff from AC Moore because they are 40% all cartridges this week. Will get one more cartridge tomorrow and then, play!
Thanks! LOL, yeah - DH already asked if I was going to clean anything this weekend and I said YES, he said really? I said sure, I am going to get rid of all my extra cardstock! LOL
Does anyone have a recommendation on a good cartridge for shapes, I like scalloped circles and scalloped ovals, I can't seem to find one - am I missing something?

Lots of carts have scalloped shapes:
Accent Essentials
Mini Monograms
Alphalicious
Celebrations
Doodlecharms
Home Accents
Plantin Schoolbook
Zooballoo
Gale, you understood it correctly. I will say, their scallops have a ton of scallops on them. By all means, I am not trying to encourage you to save your money (I NEVER would be accused of that!! LOL) but they do look good, IMO. Nice thing about it is that you can layer them because they don't change the design, kwim?
