Default Trouble with Tombow Adheasive

My SU demonstrator was able to get us a nice deal on Tombow adheasive - the permanent kind. I have run into trouble getting it to stay stuck. Is anyone else having this trouble? I was planning to use it to make my Christmas cards and probably still will but I am having to suppliment it with some othr adheasives to keep stuff stuck. I am only using it for cardstock to cardstock. Any suggestions? :(

I have never been able to get it to stay stuck. Therefore I only use Scotch brand double stick tape. No problems with that. It's not sexy but it gets the job done.

I gave up on Tombow. I have given that to my dd because I can't get it to stick for a very long period of time. I feel bad because I'll make a gift and then it falls apart after I've given it.

Sorry,
Ginger

If it's old (more than 6 months since the manufacture date) it can lose its stickiness. Also, if you live in a warm or humid environment, you have to be sure to burnish the back of the paper to make sure you have a good bond. I've never had difficulties with my dry adhesive staying stuck, though, even when I lived in coastal Georgia, so it's also possible that your adhesive came from a defective batch.

I gave it up a while ago also. Everything I made fell apart! I switched to the ATG and LOVE it. It is super strong, I even use it in place of the redline tape occasionally. PLUS, the cost is unbeatable, $18 for 12, 36 yard rolls!

I gave up on it too. A couple of years ago I got a bottle of the Tombow Mono Multi from a secret sister here on SCS and I've never looked back. That stuff sticks!!!

Ugh...everything I have made as a gift with it fell apart in a few months. Permanent my *****. I do like the stuff I got at Walmart and now I am waiting to see if it falls off after a few. The best ever was from Miss Elizabeth at Dollar Tree. I check weekly to see if that stuff comes back. But, alas, it was not clear.

I gave up on this adhesive too. Everything fell apart if I was lucky enough to get it to adhere in the first place. I know I'll hear lots of boos and hisses on this, but I swear by Aleene's Fast Grab Tacky Glue. Just a little dab. It's cheap; I store my bottles upside down; and I'm always ready to go. When I must use use tape, I like the Therm-O-Web stuff a lot. Although I've only been using it for a month, so I can't say how well the adhesive will hold up.

It's a pressure adhesive, so if you rub and press down on where you glued, it should be good to go.

Add me to the list of those who gave up on it. However, I LOVE the mono-multi glue they make! If you want something STUCK... try that!

Another person here who had bad luck with tombow. I finally broke down and bought an ATG a few months ago and am THRILLED that my projects now stay together!

Like the others, I don't like the Tombow tape adhesive, but I love their glue. The ATG scares me and I've read reviews where people say it's too bulky and takes up too much room on their work space. I have a small table I stamp on and it's hard to imagine giving any of it up. Also, I like to have a little hand held tape runner. The BEST one that I have found and that I *LOVE* is the Duck adhesive. I've only seen it as JoAnns (though I've heard you can get it at Walmart, but my Walmart is stinky) and if you buy the 4pack with a coupon it's a great deal! It last a long time. The only draw back--they aren't refillable. I still think it's worth it though--the adhesive sticks and I've got something small I can grab. HTH!

I use the Mono Multi (green bottle). I LOVE it. I had the ATG but sold it. The mono multi is so much easier because it is small. I can use it on tiny little pieces (crystals, dew drops, etc) or the big cards. It holds very well.

I used it to glue a cardstock label onto my son's mug(the coffee sipper mug thingy). It has already gone through several hand washings and the label is still stuck on there.

Same problem here with TomBow. I make a lot of cards, but don't send or sell them. I needed several today and went to my stash. All that I pulled out fell apart. Scared to look at my scrapbooks since this is the primary adhesive I've been using for years. Also the card stock where the adhesive has been, had faded. I used my SU snail adhesive to remake the cards so I can get them out in the mail tomorrow.
