I should have added that I try to find close matches for the SU *cardstock* colors, rather than the inks or markers. In my experience, the pads and markers can be somewhat different colors -- the SU! Official Word is that they are intended to *coordinate* with, rather than match the cardstock. When I'm coloring a stamped image, I want the colors to tie to the cardstock I'm using -- so that's why I key my Prismacolor selection to that. I have the chart of matching Prismas that was linked earlier in this thread -- and I believe it was done using the SU ink pad colors. I could certainly be wrong about that, but I did find that some of the matches listed weren't as close to the cardstock colors as other Prismas are. Again -- we all perceive color differently, and one person's *dead ringer match* is another's *not even close*! The chart is an excellent starting-point for coming up with your own list.
Here is what I put in that post for what I was using for the In Colors:
Cranberry Crisp--close to Bravo Burgundy but lighter, and a little more red. I am going to use 925 crimson lake, but 937 tuscan red will also do (the Bravo Burgundy color).
Marigold Morning--Close to More Mustard, but a bit lighter, and pinker. I am going to use 942 yellow ochre but you can use1034 goldenrod (More Mustard color) too.
True Thyme--like Mellow Moss, but lots darker. I am using 988 marine green, which was dark for Mellow Moss but the right tint.
Cool Caribbean--992 light aqua.
Buckaroo Blue--darker than Bordering Blue. You could use the 936 slate gray or go to 901 indigo blue which is a bit dark.
Vintage Violet--best match is 1042 metallic violet, but that is no longer available. You could use 1007 imperial violet (same as Lovely Lilac) or 933 violet blue which is a bit bluer.
By the way, Sue, I do work with the cardstock instead of the ink pads. I agree that the PC you use to color need to coordinate with the paper, not the inks. I think you will find that even the cardstock color varies from batch to batch and that will affect the pencil choices. If you have what you feel is a better match to the paper you have now, then by all means use it.
The difficulties in choices of pencils is that PC only comes in something over 130 colors (even tho I have 166 colors...LOL). By the time you subtract 15 grays, black and white, and all the different browns, there are not very many choices for each color. What I mean is that there is only a handful of reds, oranges, yellows, etc. It is amazing we can even get as close as we do!
Thanks for the tip on the Metallic Violet, Diane! I'll have to dig out my old metallic PCs and try them -- don't know why I didn't think of that. I agree that the cardstock 'dye lot' may be an issue, as well -- some of my lesser-used stock has definitely been around for awhile. ;) I think it is also affected by how *much* of a color you lay down -- for example, I use Ginger Root for Confetti Tan and a thin, light layer of Deco Yellow over a base of Cream to do Barely Banana. I may have a much heavier hand than you do. It could be my eyes, too -- they're just as old as the rest of me!
I was hoping to find a decent match for the Kraft stock, since I use it a LOT. I haven't been able to obtain a couple of the browns yet -- I was hoping that either the Sand (940) or Sandbar Brown (1094) would work. Have you had a chance to try either of them for Kraft?
You're right on about the number of actual colors in the PC line, too -- I find I have to do a lot of blending to get some colors, especially the blues! Oh, well -- it's always fun to play around with, isn't it?
Someone posted a listing of pencils that matched the in colors and they are different from the colored pencil chart. I have been searching and can't find the post? Please help.

Haven't had a chance to try the sandbar. My local art store doesn't have last year's colors (GRRRR). I will have to try M's or HL. Sand is way too yellow.
I really don't like any of my colors with Kraft. But 951 metallic copper (also discontinued) might be the closest...if you use a light hand.
