Dini, thankyou for all the info on Prismacolor pencils! oh my gosh this has helped me a lot. I also printed the list of order of the pencils too.
I thought one looks at the numbers to pair the pencils together for a project. ? I am looking more on Pinterest to figure out the pairing of the colors for a project. Any other tips I have the set of 150.

Default Memento Inks rock!

I also have the Memento London Fog (gray) ink pad as a go to color for stamping images to color. It almost fades into the background & it doesn't smear.

They offer reinker bottles & I have the black, gray & brown colors.

Here's something else I did! Stampin'Up sells the uncolored Ink Spots (5) in a bundle. I bought a set, added the Memento Reinker colors to the pads.

Now I have a smaller ink pad to use for my stamping Platforms, like a Misti, or Stamparatus. It's so much easier to tap the smaller ink pad on the stamps & less waste and clean up.

As far as i know those 30 additional colors aren't sold as a set. I would check Prismacolor's website to see what they offer in the sets.

Here's one idea to ponder. Since you are missing only 30 specific colors, you could buy just those 30 pencils. It would be cheaper than buying the 150 set. www.carpediemmarkers.com is the web shop I used to buy the individual color pencils. I paid $1.15 USD per individual pencil when I placed my order in October, 2018.

Another idea is to buy the 150 set. This way you'll have duplicates of at least 120 colors from that first set.

Once in awhile, Amazon offers the Prismacolor sets as a Deal of the Day. Last year I was able to snag it for about $75 USD. That makes it 50 for each pencil.

Dina I need help with your chart, please. I'm pretty illiterate with technology. If I click the link, I can print, but it prints in portrait and is pretty small across the top half of the page. Not sure how to get it to print landscape. Just rotating it did not fix it. I tried clicking on "open with Google doc" and that gave me a text list only.

Angie, Dina may have a [much!] better way, but have you checked your printer settings? Printers generally have a setting to print portrait or landscape. Good luck.

Thank you! That worked. If I printed more often I probably would have gotten there eventually.

Just wanted to pop this here. I'm relatively new to these pencils, and have to say I'm loving them. I've always hated colouring, as markers take a lot of mastering, and I think I have a low patience level, lol.
Anyway, that wasn't it.
I was watching one of Simon Hurleys (Inklipse) videos a few weeks ago, and he was saying he didn't like the results using paper stumps and a blending solution. He uses Zest-it. What he has done is to buy one of the Tim Holtz Blending pens, and put his Zest It into that, and uses that for pencil blending, and it worked beautifully.

With Prismacolor classes on Kit and Clowder, the teacher Elyse uses a paper with "tooth", it's a Canson Me Teintes paper. Instead of using any blending solution she uses layers of pencil. I actually find that a lot harder than using a blending solution. Does anyone here use this method?

When I took classes at a LSS she taught using a blender pencil over the layers of color. I found that method very difficult.

I use the layering and burnishing methods you both described almost exclusively. Maybe I need to put together a site tutorial....?

That would be ace Dini. I tend to use the blending pencil at the moment- very much a beginner when it comes to colouring,- but have also been watching lots of You Tube videos to help me learn. The main things I've learnt are: You can't be an expert the first time you pick up a pencil, and to slow down and take my time. Many videos are shown at faster than actual speed, and you wouldn't believe how long thats taken to register with me!

I always use a colorless blender pencil. Works very well for me.

I mostly colour with zig clean colour real brush markers or zig brushables (first is dye second is pigment ink) and i absolutely love them the u tube videos from various ppl online have helped me HEAPS!

However I do like pencils as well but cannot use anything scented whatsoever including gamsol or baby oil or copics or alcohol inks or alcohol markers i do have sharpies because i use on other things (not just craft) and love using peel off stickers and colouring them different colours!

Anyways i have a question the zig clean colour markers (waterbased) have a blender marker is it possible to use that to blend pencils? I am sure u can blend with just pencils but i have found since getting the blender marker the zigs are 1000 times easier to use.

Its just difficult due to chemical sensitivity thats all!

thanks for your help.

Also i know prismacolors are one type of pencil and theres other types out there what type are the prismacolours ie what are they made of??

I may consider pencils at some stage but for now i am quite happy with my zig markers!
thanks!

Hey there!

Prismacolors are wax based pencils, so they'll need some kind of solvent to blend them unfortunately. The Zig blender would be water based, I think.

Have you tried plain mineral oil for blending? Baby oil is just mineral oil with an added scent.

I hace done classes where instead of blending Prismacolour Pencils you use a special card called Mia Teintes. It has What the teacher called a "tooth". And there is no blending at is all just lots of layers of pencil colouring.

Default I use a heavy cardstock, but you could use Bristol paper, I would think.

And, not to hijack the thread, but you can use Prisma markers with Copics? I haven't tried the Prisma markers yet. I take it they are alcohol inks, too? That's good to know.
I use the heavy cardstock. I've found in addition the "adult" coloring books that have an image on 1 side are good with Prisma coloring pencils as well as alcohol markers- I.e. copic.
Have you tried Tim Holtz refillable alcohol pen? You can put
Gamsol in it instead of alcohol and clean the nib by just working it out on a piece of paper.

Gamsol is used in make up. It has very, very little fumes and out of baby oil and mineral oil is considered the most benign.

I mentioned it farther down in the post but Tim Holtz has a refillable blender alcohol ink marker that you can put gamsol in instead of the alcohol blending solution, or alcohol . https://www.google.com/search?q=tim+...obile&ie=UTF-8
