sometimes the crafty brain is asleep!!!
I was at hobby lobby the other day and noticed Tim holtz now has a Jumbo set of tattered flowers xlong bigz die, I love the standard size one so much I had to get it.
Well, Fri. I got two dies from Accucut and they came in a huge box way bigger than the dies, along with yards and yards of brown kraft paper.
We recycle faithfully here in town and I mentioned to hubby it was a shame to get all that and have to pitch it.
Just now I was reading the post about the WRMK flower punch board and a light bulb went on, oh my gosh I can use all that brown kraft paper to make
Tim Holtz jumbo tattered flowers with my new die. Now I don't think any of it will go in the recycle bin.
My brain woke up.
Accucut now makes a card in a box die and a box to hold 10-12 of our A2 cards and envelopes. those are the two dies that came Friday.
I don't throw any of that stuff away, because I will repurpose it in a second. I would love to see some pictures of those flowers when you do it.
I'm into the flowers lately and I couldn't do it with out the standard Tims tattered florals. That die has been used more than all of the other put together!! lol

Reason: spelling
great idea to re purpose. I used to save all that stuff until I woke up one day and it had taken over! Leftover cereal boxes, bubble wrap, tissue wraps. I finally tossed it. So now I save it for a couple of weeks and if I don't use it, adios.

I feel ya Joan! I was watching an Art Journalist youtuber and she was talking about saving babywipes and paper towels that she uses to clean up her messy play to put in her Art Journal. I'm not even going down that path I would bury myself alive!
Oh for Pete's sake. I really have to learn not to type before the second cup of caffeine...
There are pieces I save. I save the acetate sheets for making windows. Also you might save smooth hard plastic for that...like the middle of a case a Spellbinders comes in.
Or you can use that in particular to make a fast palette for mixing inks, watercolor or alcohols..it has a lip so it's not going to run off anywhere. Maybe for portable version or even classes. Washable up to a point. If you keep both sides together it's pretty stiff. Or if you are not going to keep the metal container pencils come in...also a good washable palette board.
I definitely keep zip lock bags for a million things. Esp odd shapes like long and thin.

LOL, no way, I'd end up in a pile of trash if I started that! I FORCE myself to throw away a lot of smaller scraps so I don't turn into a hoarder!
I'm starting to build my stash again. I just moved and in the down-sizing process, gave away or tossed much of that sort of stuff. Of course, now I have more brown packing paper than ever, but when my plastic bin gets full, I quit. I have designated boxes/bins for all that sort of stuff, and save only until they are full, then into the recycle it goes.
I save the acetates from the cling stamps. The "clean" bigger ones I reuse for window, glass die cuts. The flimsy ones i reuse as palettes to scribble/mix copics colors. Sometimes I order a die that comes in nice sturdy zip top baggie. i reuse those to organize buttons, ribbon, etc. I save cardboard or packaging in different thicknesses to use as shims in my Big Shot. Usually I only get one reuse out of those since they get cut into.

It's a fine line between saving things for their usefulness and hoarding! I try to keep a bit of stuff but my worst habit is saving too many bubble envies. A small business could run on the bubble mailers I've collected in every size possible!

I recycle a lot but think I've reached the hoarder stage! It's just you can use those smaller paper scraps with so many punches! I've been looking for a box for my A2 and A7 sized cards and coming up blank. Used to shop at Xpedx (ages ago) and purchase their clear plastic gift boxes - the kind you can put one of those stretchie bows around. I just looked on Tim Holz and can't locate the dies you spoke about - did find the tattered flowers - so nice.....just bought lots of Stampin Up, Joann's embossing folders that were on sale AND a few dies from Penny Black. So any Tim Holtz should probably wait!

Accucut boxes for cards
WAVEJUMPER
The Accucut boxes to put cards in are awesome, I have diecut a bunch of them just since I got the dies last week. Would also work for gifts like cookies, candy, jewelry, any gift Holds about 10 cards AND envelopes and is easy to put together no gluing needed, Yeah.

What a great idea - I shall have to create a storage system to keep my 'saving for a future date' things in control!!

I confess....I'm a box saver! We ship a lot to our grandkids and sometimes I need small boxes and never seem to have any. Now I have a collection of small boxes.
Then, last month, my husband bought us new Samsung Galaxy S-5 phones that came in a beautiful box. It was such an expensive investment (compared to our old el-cheapo phones!) and I decided I better keep the box just in case.
After a month, I am thinking I must find a use for the phone box, it is a well made box in a neutral color. (I am thinking a great storage box for small things in my studio...we'll see!)
I still have all my old SU clam shell boxes, I use them for so many things! They're great for pre-cut & punched parts for cards I can take with me to work away from home or to work in front of the TV. I use them for storage, and just about everything else! (This week I used a small one for important papers while traveling - like serial numbers and original receipts for our bicycles in case they got stolen.)
I, too, save plastic from purchases of dies, etc. So many uses! I cut up the plastic and store it in a file folder with my cardstock files.
They are having a site wide sale 20% code sitewide20 which matters since a lot of the dies are very expensive...and possibly an additional clearance sale...
I cant find the specific die that makes the boxes to hold A2 cards. I found the card in a box but that is different. But hopefully this is a start.
RiverIsis-thank you for those links! I am saving those! I like the clear plastic boxes for gifts!
Plus...for signing up to the email list they just sent me a $10 coupon on my first order good till the end of the year. I dont know if it is stackable with other sales though.
