Default SLICE cutting issues

I know that most of you probably won't be getting a SLICE until Christmas, but for those of you that may have one already, do you find that the cuts are not very crisp, the corners of shapes are rounded and that lines are not straight? I wonder if it's MY machine or ALL machines...
Thanks for your input!

There've been a lot of issues with the Basic1 card that comes with the Slice. Make sure you register your Slice with MM and also let them know about the issues that you're having. Hopefully, they'll be able to resolve the problems.

I have noticed that images definitely don't cut as "crisply" as the images appear in the reference booklets that come with the design cards, especially the fonts and smaller right angles. I haven't had any problems with straight lines persay, such as with the sides of the label images, but right-angle cuts seem to end up rounded instead of sharp. (This is for any of the cards, not just Basics 1.)

Unfortunately, yesterday my Slice quit cutting altogether - the unit that holds the blade stopped popping down. The arm still goes through the motions like it would be cutting, but the blade is still retracted up - it doesn't even make a scratch on the paper. I've barely used the thing (only had it a week and a half). I tried homing it, replacing the blade, restarting it, etc., nothing. I e-mailed MM about it, so we'll see what they say!

Whenever you change your card, make sure to home your blade. Keep track of which images and sizes you are having issues with and definitely contact MM. It's a new machine and there are going to be bugs with it. You also might try adjusting your blade to see if that helps.

To the original poster, I have those problems too. I only have the Basic shapes 1, and it is mostly on the smaller shapes. Some of the problems have to do with the Basic Shapes card glitches. But, some of the round corners, I believe, may be the way it was designed to work. I could be wrong. But when I first got it, my husband looked at the blade and said he didn't know how it could cut the smaller shapes otherwise. It's a floating blade. So, the larger shapes are crisper, and the smaller shapes have more rounded edges, etc. Take the alphabet...the letters I cut out for my Christmas cards were 1" letters. The insides of these letters are not crisp. They are ovals or circles. When I cut out the larger letters for my son's science project they were very crisp and nice. I don't mind. I still think my little Slice was worth every penny! I hope it doesn't stop working completely like the other poster, though. I feel safe knowing that MM has such good customer service, though.
